I was wondering what lenght headers I should get for my truck? I dont want to do anyother exhaust work, all ready have flowmaster. Do I want the headers coated or is Stainless Steel OK?

I just spoke to Edlebrock they have a set of shorties ceramic coated(65022 or not coated 65023. I called summit they offer them for only $299.00. What kind of inprovement will I get from shorties that are ceramic coated?

I think that they give some, just not nearly as much as longtubes. I have seen before/after dynos on an f-body where they gained a decent amount from a set of edelbrock shorties. Don't know if it would be the same for the trucks though.

Shorties have two big disadvatages, the short primary tubes being the obvious, but the short collector also is terrible for performance.

I wouldn't swap to a shorty header, I would go with a longer primary tube and proper collector or not even bother.

Shorty headers are for getting exhaust in where things just don't fit, in a very inexpensive way, IMO.

They just look better, no real performance gains that I am aware of.

Just installed a set of JBA shorties last night.

Not a huge gain, but did change the sound of the truck a little. Plus... they look good.

first of all, i wouldnt advise using shorties. i have found that long tubes will give you better gains, but i also wouldnt suggest ceramic coating. buy them painted, and then before you install them, send em off to jet-hot and have em coated. trust me, this is well worth the time and money. not only will it look better than the ceramic coating you get from the company, but it wont crack or peel, or turn blue. do some research for yourself, i promise you wont be dissapointed. they also lower underhood temperatures by 100-200 degrees! jet-hot will also give you the best warranty in the bus. check em out!
