ruderegime Posted January 8, 2005 Report Posted January 8, 2005 What gear do you drive in? Me, D on hwy. 3 in town
wait4me Posted January 8, 2005 Report Posted January 8, 2005 you run in 3rd all the time with the tow on? why if you mind me asking????
m396 #00-011 Posted January 8, 2005 Report Posted January 8, 2005 The truck is faster bone stock in regular mode (tow/haul off) I can understand driving in 3 around town.
wait4me Posted January 8, 2005 Report Posted January 8, 2005 The truck is faster bone stock in regular mode (tow/haul off) I can understand driving in 3 around town. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> thats what i thought, looking thru all the factory tables, tow haul is for just that, towing and hauling, its alot different than our sports cars thats for sure.. on them, the tow haul mode can be made into a performance mode and for my truck i made the tow haul mode into a performance mode with higher linepressure and more aggressive shifting mph ect.. and when the car is in normal mode it is more tow oreanted.... mine doesnt have to be in drive , it is set up nice now no matter what it is in lol, jes

But as Wait4me said, it's all in the programing. It forces the truck to shift sooner, which kills your over all time.
boeman Posted January 8, 2005 Report Posted January 8, 2005 I like the shift points in tow/haul mode.

haul@ss Posted January 8, 2005 Report Posted January 8, 2005 OK now im confused... It forces the truck to shift sooner, which kills your over all time. which "it" is this?? lol sorry... its 2:10 am over here... btw, this whole turning the tow/haul mode into performance mode, is this only done by programming?
m396 #00-011 Posted January 9, 2005 Report Posted January 9, 2005 Again, the truck is slower in the 1/4 mile with Tow/Haul mode turned on. The truck is forced by programming to shift sooner in tow/haul mode than in the regular mode. This decreases your overall time. It makes no sense to drive around in tow/haul mode, unless you reprogrammed the PCM to make it a performance mode, such as I did. Stock programming, tow/haul mode is slower. It's a fact that has been proven. ;)

Big O Posted January 10, 2005 Report Posted January 10, 2005 Oh this topic brings back some good college memories ... I was riding around with my little brothers friend in his (daddy's money) brand new hot off the showroom F150 ... there is a hot rod / mechanic college in the same town and one of them pulled up besides this kid and starts revving ... all of a sudden he leans forward and turns on the tow/haul button and says - lets run buddy - holy shit I still haven't stopped laughing about that one ... priceless. Fords and Ricers holy schmidt.

It's harder on the tranny and drivetrain.
