Rays B4U Posted January 8, 2005 Report Posted January 8, 2005 Since I've learned that the SS muffler is not a true dual, I've been researching a muffler to go along with dual pipes out the back under the bumper. I've had the Magnaflow 14568 and the Flow-Pro 2504 mufflers recommended to me. My local custom exhaust shops want almost $400 to do this. I've found the Magnaflow 15840 Cat Back System online for $465 shipped to my door, so I've been considering it but I'm concerned about it being too loud since it's muffler is 5x8x18". Has anyone installed one on their SS or heard one on a SS? How loud is it and is there much cab resonance or drone at cruising speed. Ray
DGIEPSS Posted January 8, 2005 Report Posted January 8, 2005 on my truck i atached two 40 siries mufflers where the 2 stock pipes entered the muffler and ran 2 3 inch tail pipes out back and boy does it sound good not to noisy but you hear the truck coming and going
jaydub03ss Posted January 8, 2005 Report Posted January 8, 2005 i think most will agree that u should look at a dual in- dual out muffler of a brand of your choice..that hooks up nice and sounds really deep and loud...exp with some headers

That's why I was asking if anyone has any experience with the Magnaflow 15840, it's a dual in/dual out the back system. Thanks for the reply.
AUTOGUY Posted January 9, 2005 Report Posted January 9, 2005 If you buy the Magnaflow system...it shouldn't cost more than $100.00 to have it installed.
cadowns Posted January 9, 2005 Report Posted January 9, 2005 Ray, I also tried the 5x8x18" Magnaflow and it was too loud for me. I now have a the 12590 , bigger & longer. It is better, but loud. Look at the setup that dcarins has using the resonators, that should be the way to go. CD

CD <{POST_SNAPBACK}> CD, I was concerned with the 5x8x18, I wished that they made a cat back system using the 14568 or the 12569 they're 5x11x22's. They might be more of the noise level us "Dinosaurs" would like. Flo-Pro makes the 2504 that is designed for the 6.0 & 8.1 to keep the resonance down. There is another custom exhaust shop in my town that sells the Flo-Pro, but was closed the day I was looking, so I think I'll go talk to him and see what price he has. (hopefully it will be less than the $250 the other shop wanted!) Thanks! Ray
