BenKey
The 65 is a slightly stronger 60, with the main difference being the 5-pinion planetary gears. There are a few minor differences other than that. Everything that is good for a 60, will be good for a 65.

BenKey
so ours are 65s? im confused now <{POST_SNAPBACK}> The 4L60E is the more common tranny out there. Used in most of the other trucks. The 4L65E is just a stronger 4L60E.
zippy
no need to be confused, the SS comes with a 4L65E trans... if you're shopping for shift kits, find one for a 4L60E and that will work in it with no problem.
Maximus
Now I am confused, because when I had my VIN checked the guy said that I had a 4L60E, what gives?????

A 4L65E is a 4L60E with a few stronger parts. Everything else is identical.
