COZWV Posted January 15, 2005 Report Posted January 15, 2005 Will it make that much difference? I just finished installing an Infinity Basslink with the PAC AOEM GM24. Love that extra thump! Don't want to mess with the factory headunit. Just wondering if it is worth the money to swap speakers? If so what are some really good speakers? ?
Dylan06SS Posted January 15, 2005 Report Posted January 15, 2005 As some audiofiles will tell you (me being one of them) Bose is nothing more than a well marketed name. They're stuff isn't bad... but theres tons of better systems out there (I'm sure the Bose loyalists are gonna chime in here) I am going to be changing out the speakers for these: Boston PRO60 and these: Boston NEO TypeM Theres tons of gains to be had from a good set of mids and highs. Just make sure you stick w/ the same make to keep your timbre and pitch matched. Most people neglect the mids and highs in their car and just install subs, but those levels are just as important. Vocals, guitar, horns, etc. are all created by the highs and mids... its definitely worth the extra $$$.

styleandspeed Posted January 17, 2005 Report Posted January 17, 2005 Isn't there a certain ohm resistance speaker that we should buy for the bose system? I have heard that they are different than the conventional systems.
Dylan06SS Posted January 17, 2005 Report Posted January 17, 2005 If you're replacing the component speakers they will come w/ impedence, ohm, timbre, level matched parts (if you buy a complete kit)
styleandspeed Posted January 17, 2005 Report Posted January 17, 2005 I didn't know they made "kits" specifically for our bose systems. Pretty cool

haynss Posted January 17, 2005 Report Posted January 17, 2005 im just thinking that if you need to ask whether or not to change the speakers from Bose, then you shouldn't. Or if you do, try to find someone with after market speakers and see if you can hear a difference, otherwise you might be wasting your money for something you can't hear.

Sounds awesome and I can make it sound stock with the touch of a button if I have others in the truck. I didn't touch the bose stuff at all.
haynss Posted January 19, 2005 Report Posted January 19, 2005 so you are still running off the stock deck? When you say with a switch of a button you mean you have the power hooked up to your amps and you just turn those off and the stock is back on? interesting
haynss Posted January 19, 2005 Report Posted January 19, 2005 http://jlaudio.com/press/CleanSweep05.html this is kinda cool too
Big O Posted January 19, 2005 Report Posted January 19, 2005 Sounds awesome and I can make it sound stock with the touch of a button if I have others in the truck. That is how I have mine setup as well ... I have a younger nephew and I often ride around with people who don't appreciate the same amount of bass as I do ... so I can hit the kill switch and it is back to stock.
ALASKASS Posted January 19, 2005 Report Posted January 19, 2005 Ive wasted alot of $$$$ on systems and the only time it was worth changing out the bose speakers is when the subs overpower the rest of the music. I have two Infinity DVC 12's and I think the bose works fine with them.
