Moving the MAF after the FMIC necessary?

Typically, no.

The MAF will still read every bit of air entering the motor (ambient temp air enters, it's then heated by the compressor, then cooled by the intercooler and enters the motor...temp of the air at this point doesn't matter (except for performance), and 100% of the air entered via the MAF and was accounted for).

The only reason I can see to move the MAF to after the intercooler is if you wantd to run a blow-of valve on the hot pipe and vent it to the atmoshere, to have a cool loud, WHOOSH sound.

you may get a little better throttle response out of it being closer, but that's about it. on the other hand it's good to keep it close to the throttle body because if a tube blow's off the truck will still run ok, it just won't have any boost.

Why would the moving the MAF affect throttle response?  I can't get my brain around this one.  Not trying to argue, so please explain this one to me.

i think the principle is on the same idea of filling a tank, i forgot exactly how corky bell said it.. with the maf further away, there is going to be a long pause before the air gets there... I remember reading it somewhere in maximum boost..
