Does anyone have any complaints at all about the SS? I am going to buy one soon and I've been trying to do a lot of research on them. I know a lot of you complain about the thumping noise in the steering. Is there anything else any of you find annoying or unsatisfactory? Overall I know these trucks rock and I will be buying one regardless but I want to know what problems may turn up, ahead of time. Thanks!

I'm a little disappointed in the AWD. We just had our first measurable snow here in Central PA, enough to coat the highway. Although I didn't get into any trouble, I had a bit of a time getting up some hills. With the large gummys and the HP I guess it should be expected.

Probably in deeper snow on a first pass it would work better, but on the packed stuff, you really have to be careful.

Don't get me wrong though I really like the truck.

Put the shifter in second for problems like that, it will not use first at all making it easier to get up hills with the HP of the truck and the big tires.

We have had a couple weeks of good snowing .... thaw .... freeze ... thaw ... freeze ... snow (catch my drift) and the AWD kicks ASS!! I also drive a Ford 4x4 and the Chevy Crew Cab 4x4 (auto 4x4) and the AWD outperforms them all (not to mention it destroys the fwd wifey car) ... You won't find a better method of traveling through the snow/ice

Welcome to the site, chevygal, and good luck in your search.

Where are you located? Maybe the snow discussion is not relevant to you.

Haven't seen a single snowflake this year in Charlotte, NC.

Gas mileage sucks...but I knew that when I bought it, as I assume you do as well.

With my commute 50/50 city/hwy...I get ~14mpg AT BEST.

So don't be disillusioned and think you may get the advertised 16 on the highway...unless your state is still 55mph on 2-lane roads, and you obey the limit...hehe.

Otherwise, with 6 weeks of ownership under my belt...I love it. No complaints so far...

fuel milage, tires, resale, drivetrain noise, and constant staring seem to be the most common. overall it's not so bad. it does everything pretty well and with style... :chevy:

the 9 batteries i have had, but besides that no complaints. I have to agree w/ everyone else that the staring is horrible! You don't get left alone on the road :)

Thanks. Pretty much made up my mind anyway, lol. By the way, I do live where it snows. Got some last night and now we've got the DEEP FREEZE.

the stares dont bother me ( the tinted windows help because i can see you and you cant see me :D ) but i also say the first6 weks of ownership so far so good the only thing the truck seems to misfire sometimes you can only notice it at idle :dunno:

I was disappointed that it didn't come with dual exhaust, that should be standard with the SS. Also I sometimes think it could have had more power. I didn't like the stock headlights, but theres nothing that a little modifying can't fix.

I wish it had a power antenna. Mine always wiggles out of place and has to be tightened every month or so. And whats with having no light under the hood? Other than that, I would've liked to have had a sunroof option or something.
