vdrumright Posted January 19, 2005 Report Posted January 19, 2005 I was just wondering if any of the guys that live in the cold winter climates are having second thought about having changed their thermostats? On those -2 degree mornings I know I am. ...... Does anyone know if it will hurt to put the stock one back in for a couple of months until the weather starts to warm back up without changing the pcm programing?
Wizard Posted January 19, 2005 Report Posted January 19, 2005 Talk to Bryan. I spoke to him a day ago because he had my PCM again. I had a 180* thermo that always read 205*. So I put in a 160* thermo while the PCM was out. Then I realized that I told him I had a 180* so I called him and told him. He said it didn't really matter too much. I would imagine that if the weather is that crappy you probably won't be driving that hard anyway, and the added heat would sure be nice.
zippy Posted January 19, 2005 Report Posted January 19, 2005 if you changed it, the pcm should compensate if programmed correctly. since bryan did yours vince, i think you'll be fine.

WhiteSS Posted January 21, 2005 Report Posted January 21, 2005 what kind of gains did the thermostat do for yalls truck?
deezel Posted January 22, 2005 Report Posted January 22, 2005 Not exactly arctic here in TX, but mine warms up pretty quick on our cold days. The heated seats help a lot for the first few minutes until the engine warms up. brrrr
matt rem Posted January 22, 2005 Report Posted January 22, 2005 It has been 8 degrees in the mornings here in Jersey and I haven't had any problems warming up with a 160.
