I had the same problem it is a warranty issue they have had problems with the valves sticking I think it's a clerance issue because it only did this when it was cold.

They replaced the valve body and I havn't had a problem since!

Sometimes when I punch the gas from a stop it won't shift outta first. It keeps redlining until I let off the gas. WTF?

There's a TSB out on the 4L65E Trans in 2500 series, but our truck has same tranny. Problem is called Trans slipping between 1 and 2 followed by harsh shift

Although nothing shows up for SS, shop foreman  ordered the updated Servo and had replaced in November.

 Working like a charm ever since...

Anything that was done to the valve body as far as the shift kit goes will be gone. The dealer will most likely not look for modified/aftermarket parts to reinstall them they will more than likely pull the valve body and replace it with a new one along with the spacer plate. If you find a dealer that is willing to keep the parts from the shift kit and install in the new valve body you may need to provide them with the instructions so they know exactly what they need to keep/swap to the new valve body.

When they replace the valve body, would they do anything to effect the PCM programing? If so I can swap for the OEM when I bring it in.

I would always say put the stock pcm or program back in unless you have HPT or other means to reflash your current tune back on the PCM if they do change or reprogram it.

my friend had this problem in her caddy and it ended up being a shift sensor inside the tranny. after the car would heat up the sensor would malfunction. it may not be the case here but this is the same thing her's did just before it went out.

sounds good ill put the stock one back in. i dont think it's a heat thing becuase this happens most in the mornings when it's cold.

Yup thats when It happends because after the dirt has scratched the bores that the valves ride in they get sticky whne it's cold, once it heats up you gain a bit more clearance and it can move freely. There for that valve body is junk don't let them tell you that they are going to clean it and put it back in because the problem will still be there.

So if this is a TSB would it be covered even if I am out of warrenty? If not, what would it cost to have this done at the dealer? I have a shift kit that I've yet to install... would I be better off having the trans shop fix this when they put in the shift kit?

Thanks for all the great help as usual!

A TSB will increase your chances of getting it warrentied, but does not require them to warrenty it.
