gbart Posted January 20, 2005 Report Posted January 20, 2005 hey guys gettin my exhaust this week wondering how often anybody if any gets tickets for dumped or too loud exhaust thats whats gonna make my decision whether or not to dump it i want it loud just dont wanna pay to many tickets thanks alot Gbart
Dylan06SS Posted January 20, 2005 Report Posted January 20, 2005 you can't be ticketed for exhaust and unless you're planning on running some EXTREME setup theres no way you'll get ticketed for it being too loud either. A cop would have to be using a dB meter to verify you were over the legal level and most wouldn't take the time to do it.

He measured me with the db and he said i failed but i dont know because the ticket got dropped in court because he never showed. Also, dumps are illegal in a lot of states because the exhaust is not exiting outside of the car/truck, it has more of a tendacy to stay underneath the vehicle and apparently could cause carbon monoxide problems, but i never had any problems. Normally you wont have to worry bout it but just check around for you state laws and check for requirements

SSplaytoy Posted January 20, 2005 Report Posted January 20, 2005 I got a ticket for it but it got thrown outta court. By the way, nice sig Dylan
vtodd82 Posted January 20, 2005 Report Posted January 20, 2005 i have gutted cats and no mufflers with turndowns. its pretty loud, but honestly no joke, not loud enough IMO to get a ticket from a cop unless you are WOT. i got pulled over the other day for speeding with this setup and the cop didnt say anything about my exhausts loudness. now on my old 76 F-100 ford with a 390 in it, and no muffs/cats, i was getting pulled over right and left for noise pollution. so far so good with the ss.
CoolBlueSS Posted January 20, 2005 Report Posted January 20, 2005 It mostly depends on the cop. If you get a dickhead cop with a hard on for any kind of fast car/truck, he'll FIND something to ticket you for. Been there done that.
ALASKASS Posted January 20, 2005 Report Posted January 20, 2005 The 6.0 engine sounds loud and blappy without mufflers. I had problems with my old HD (no mufflers). The ticket I got was a fix it ticket where I had to bring the truck in and show mufflers and get the dB check. I would avoid the hassle and put on some mufflers you will be happy with the sound.
davechevyss Posted January 20, 2005 Report Posted January 20, 2005 when the stereos in cars are way louder than the engine, and they dont ticket them, I dont see how the cop could single out a loud exhaust
