Cobb Posted January 20, 2005 Report Posted January 20, 2005 a 5.0 95 mustang wants to race my stock ss, both are stock, how sould it end?
CrAzYMoPaRGuY Posted January 20, 2005 Report Posted January 20, 2005 a 5.0 95 mustang wants to race my stock ss, both are stock, how sould it end? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I would think a 1995 Mustang would be a very low 14 second car, so it depends on how fast your truck is. If it's an automatic the Mustang *should* be consistent, if it's a 5 speed you'll have the driver to figure into things. I've seen many drivers who couldn't launch or shift a 5 speed for any amount of money..? ;)
ChevySSandChevy8.1 Posted January 20, 2005 Report Posted January 20, 2005 most are around 15s, should be a close race, if hes driving a stick, it will depend on his skills.
Krambo Posted January 20, 2005 Report Posted January 20, 2005 I think you got him in the 1/4. It will be close. He will get you up top. >100mph Let us know how it turns out. Make sure he is stock though. The 5.0L is a very easy car to mod. I own a 91.
fox_forma Posted January 20, 2005 Report Posted January 20, 2005 raced a 99 gt when it was warm out and smoked him off the line for a good distance then he caught me but he still couldn;t get ahead of me. Should be a close one but you should get the jump
Cobb Posted January 20, 2005 Author Report Posted January 20, 2005 it is a stick and now he says he has a intake.
superman Posted January 21, 2005 Report Posted January 21, 2005 if he can drive at all, you will lose. he should take you by around 1 and a half car lenghts.
Krambo Posted January 21, 2005 Report Posted January 21, 2005 Go give her hell!! Cut as much weight from your truck as you can. You will be amazed at how much that helps. Let your truck cool down before hand and I still think you have a shot. Take out the spare tire and jack take off the tailgate as little gas in the tank as possible
gbart Posted January 21, 2005 Report Posted January 21, 2005 my sis has a 94 5.0 with a cold air induction and exhaust automatic and she gets me by about a car from a 40 mile an hour role to around 80 but from a dead stop i got 2 cars on her to 80 more in the beginning she started to catch up a little but still a kill in my book so i say go for it man you definitly have a good chance of beating her
NateZ Posted January 21, 2005 Report Posted January 21, 2005 I think your gonna get beat. those 5.0's aren't that fast, but they are faster than a stock or even lightly modded SS. My buddy has a 94 cobra 5.0. He took me twice, now that i have the whipple i took him once and he won't race me again now Have fun Nate
Mopar59RT2002 Posted January 21, 2005 Report Posted January 21, 2005 i will use the money for k&n <{POST_SNAPBACK}> have raced a few 5.0's and a 4.6,stock they are not fast, only lost to a 5.0 that had heads, cam, headers, intake, cai, and 4.10's,stock you better be able to beat him or thats pretty sad
fordsareslow Posted January 24, 2005 Report Posted January 24, 2005 5.0's are not fast. I have a buddy with a stock 91 and I have raced him a couple of times, every time i beat him by close to two car lengths. I don't have a SS, but just a BONE STOCK reg. cab. short bed silverado with a 5.3. Off of the line I smoke him with my 3.73's. He starts to catch up by 70-75. I say go for it. My truck runs 15.20's stock and I beat him. I think a stock SS runs pretty close to what I do
