moregrip Posted January 20, 2005 Report Posted January 20, 2005 Who has hooked up a realtime IAT gauge (i.e. Autometer) to the Radix IAT sensor and how did you do it?
slimsoftball Posted January 20, 2005 Report Posted January 20, 2005 Didn't know there was such a thing. Sounds cool.
dcairns Posted January 20, 2005 Report Posted January 20, 2005 I have monitored my IAT with EFI Live, but that just uses the existing sensor as read by the PCM. With the Radix the IAT is moved to the "compressed" side of the intake (after the intercooler), and provides useful information on the air temps reaching the cylinders. Here is a screen shot from EFILive (sorry about the size, it would not shrink legibly) showing 4 full throttle 0-60 runs (VSS= vehicle speed) You can see the IAT vary between 110 and 130 degrees (purple line in second row).
BigTex Posted January 20, 2005 Report Posted January 20, 2005 Dave - email me that efi file if you don't mind. I'd like to look at it in a little more detail. I've done the same thing logging temps with EFI. I'm currently looking for an LCD based temp guage that looks good and has a fast response rate. I'd really like a 4 temp readout that I could see outside ambient temp, airbox underhood temp, post radix/pre intercooler temp, and after intercooler temp. Then I could watch the progression of outside air through the whole system. I'm looking at a 0-80 MPH run here. Outside temps w ere about 30*. Time is 6.7 seconds and my intake temps go from 73* up to 95* in that amount of time. Temps top out at 100* 2 seconds later, then come back down 80* in 30 seconds from the end of the run. I'm curious to see how the summer heat changes my IATs.
moregrip Posted January 20, 2005 Author Report Posted January 20, 2005 I suppose it would technically be called a CDT gauge vice IAT. I'd just like to use the existing sensor instead of figuring out how to mount a new sensor/sender. That would probably mean I'd need to drill a hole in the intake manifold.
