chevygal Posted January 22, 2005 Report Posted January 22, 2005 Ok, went to the dealer that has the only red SS I could find in New England. I've been to a couple of dealers getting prices on this truck (they'll swap), and looks like something may happen this week. Anyway, when I went to the dealer that has the red one, it didn't look as "bright" red as I thought. Maybe it was the way the light was hitting it (that's what dealer said), or maybe it was that it was a little dirty (have had snow every few days here), but to me it looked like the side panels were the nice bright deep red and the hood looked like it was more of a flat red, almost like it was out in the sun too long and sort of an orangy red look. Any of you "red" owners have any problem with fading or noticed any other red SS's that seem brighter? I would hate to have my dealer swap and get this truck for me only to find out I don't like the color. They also had a black which I liked and the silver birch which I don't like. It is very "flat" and plain looking. It looks good on an Escalade but not the SS.
TurbochargedBerserker Posted January 23, 2005 Report Posted January 23, 2005 I've had no trouble and have parked outside everyday for 1.5 years in the FL sun ;)
Dylan06SS Posted January 23, 2005 Report Posted January 23, 2005 No problems w/ mine... but shes been pampered in a garage since day one and multiple coats of acrylic sealer each month. A good detailing should bring back any lost shine, but have the dealer make note of any imperfection in the paint prior to buying it. That way if it turns out that it can't be fixed without repainting they'll have to warranty it. BTW: glad to see you have good taste in colors!
XGMTech Posted January 23, 2005 Report Posted January 23, 2005 If there actually is a difference in the truck you are looking at, it could be that the hood has been repainted, and the paint imporperly matched??? Something to look into...
chevygal Posted January 23, 2005 Author Report Posted January 23, 2005 Brand new, 2005. Maybe it was just that it's been sitting outside and needs a good wash and shine. It just looked to me like the side panels were a much deeper red. I'm going to have another look at it this week.

I'm going to have another look at it this week. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> There was an issue a while back with the blue trucks having side panels that were a slight different shade. Not extremely noticeable. That is, just referring to the side body kit pieces. My guess is it just needs a good cleaning/shine. Hope you get it.
Jonmalibuss Posted January 24, 2005 Report Posted January 24, 2005 It's probably just the fact that it's dirty and the way the light hit's it my dad has an 04 silverado same red and they can be parked 20 ft. apart and they always look like different colors but it's just the way the light hit's the panels.
cwest94 Posted January 24, 2005 Report Posted January 24, 2005 I'v noticed how the red looks more like a orange when its in direct sun light then it does when its not.
chevygal Posted January 24, 2005 Author Report Posted January 24, 2005 Thanks guys, I appreciate it. I probably will buy this one anyway. It's loaded and it's the only red one I've seen so far.
