fast4popper Posted January 24, 2005 Report Posted January 24, 2005 Just today the wife called and told me that the check engine light was on, So I took my trusty Matco scan tool and the above codes are the ones to come up. 740 is something to do with the TCC curcuit, 785 is a shift/timing selonoid, and 2761 I have no clue. It feels as though the truck is stuck in 3rd gear. any ideas? has anyone else had this problem. I will bring it to Chevy in the morning but I would like to know what kind of problem I have tonight? Thanks in advance. -C-
d_a_n_payne Posted January 24, 2005 Report Posted January 24, 2005 Maybe you need a whole new converter?? That is kinda what happened to mine but it was a TCI converter.
smithl3 Posted January 24, 2005 Report Posted January 24, 2005 I had damn near the exact problem with my trucka while ago. When a certain fuse pops, the tranny defaults to 2nd or 3rd (can't remember) but it sounds like what you are talking about. It could be as simple as a blown fuse. I was wiring my fans when mine blew, so I am not sure why yours would though.

Also I had a problem on my 01 Monte carlo ss, but in that case I had no codes it just would not shift at all. It was the speed sensors, But I don't know how our trucks are controlled.
fast4popper Posted January 24, 2005 Author Report Posted January 24, 2005 I didnt think about fuses. then again I wasnt doin anything electrical when this happened. I washed it the night before in my heated shop and it sat for about 3 hours drying before It went out in the cold, then I drove it home. the next day the wife drove it to work and then that is when she called and said the light was on. We will see, it is at the dealer this morning. thanks for the ideas. -C-
