7.1 is three in front, two in back, and two on the sides right?  I was wondering if there is much content that makes use of the two side speakers, specifically?

 

Not Yet but they are starting too... I also have a 7.1 Surround but nothing to this extent...

 

You mainly see 6.1 Dolby Digital ES or DTS ES on DVD's now...

 

The back 2 channels act as one rear with out the proper coding...

 

I must say that it makes a difference but not a big ehough difference to rush out and upgrade. Most receivers have yet to support 7.1 surround. Just some info for you...

actually almost all new A/V receivers come standard w/ 7.1 now... the only ones that don't have it anymore are either old models or cheap p.o.s. brands.
