2003SilvSS
This is a simple question that is confusing me a little bit. I'm thinking about getting some type of a new air/intake system. Down the road I want to get an aftermarket hood with functional CAI. If I go with the volant CAI, can I use it without a hood with scoops? And then down the road, when I get an aftermarket hood, can I buy some type of a mount to use the scoop? I know this sounds confusing, but hopefully someone will know what I'm talking about. Thanks Brian
smit
You can use the Volant without having a hood with scoops. To my knowledge, there is no adapter to mate a Volant CAI to a functional hood scoop such as the Keystone hood. The Volant is a closed box type similar to the stock airbox. You would need an open filter type CAI such as Airaid, AEM, K&N. I have an Airaid with the Keystone hood. The outside air dumps right on top of the filter. There is a box built around the filter that supposedly blocks the hot air from the engine compartment , but leaves the top open to the hood scoop. 2003SilvSS
Ok, thanks for the reply. What do some people suggest I do? Buy an Outlaw Intake? Buy a drop in K&N and cut a whole in the bottom of the air box? Save the time and trouble and put all money towards an aftermarket hood? Opinions are all welcomed. r8rs4lf
Why not just wait and buy the Keystone ram air hood with the intake at the same time? Link Late- Alex
