SilveradoSSobsession
Ok the other day i was driving on the highway (about 70) and i start hearing this faint squeaking noise whenever i hit a patched area in the freeway. After i exit into town i keep hearing it every time i hit a small pothole or patched area in the road. Its driving me insane! So now i have to take my brand new truck into the dealership and have it looked at. Anyone else ever have this problem? The factory i work for is actually a direct supplier to GM and we make control arms for these silverado pickups, so if its a suspension problem i have a pretty good idea what it is Unless the SS's Z60 suspension has a different control arm.......but i doubt im that lucky. Richard <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I noticed a front end squeak on the ride home from the dealers the night I bought my truck. There was a TSB on this: Technical Service Bulletins Summary Make: CHEVROLET Model: SILVERADO Year: 2004 Type: TRUCK Service Bulletin Number: 01516 NHTSA Item Number: 10005467 Summary Description: SQUEAK NOISE EMANATING FROM THE FRONT SHOCK AREA. SIT BULLETIN 1404925. *TT They replaced my drivers side front shock and I haven't heard it since. BenKey
Shocks making the noise is pretty common on here. Bad, or improperly installed bushings, I think.
PurdueGradDWT
Just got my SS a month or so ago, a week after having it (around 100 miles on the odometer) I noticed there was a squeak coming from the same area (at any speed it would do this). I took it back to the dealer and they replaced the "upper shock mounts." It hasn't made a sound since. They were still under warranty . Hope this helps. Bad, or improperly installed bushings, I think. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> That's exactly what it is. Happend to mine when it was new. They replaced both front shocks. You should be able to push down on the front bumper to make it squeak.
