papi
I have a question for you guys. I have a stock 03 silverado reg cab with the 5.3 liter locking diff and 3.73 gears. Would I have a chance of beating a stock reg cab dodge ram with the hemi engine. Lets say 0-60 and 1/4 mile. Does any one have any times for either one of this trucks. Any info would be appreciated. rmcswain
I would guess your Chevy would give the (stock) Hemi all he wants and it's possible you could beat the Dodge I had an 02reg. cab.,5.3,3.73, and it was pretty durn quick
BenKey
I think it would be close. But, if you just did a couple of fairly cheap mods, you could probably gaurantee victory. I don't think it would take very much.
MilleniumSS03
Despite what you may hear the new Hemi is not all it is cracked up to be. At least IMHO. I have ridden in one and it does not impress me.
Ultimate
The Silverado has the best throtle response of any comparable pick up. Nissan Admited they used the silverado as a benchmark for throtle response and acceleration for their upcoming Nissan Titan full size truck
rmcswain
That is where the Hemis are hurting ........throttle response
4.7DAK
Once again I'll "Dodge" the flying bullets, and just post some regular cab 4x2 Hemi times. 14.8 @ 93mph is the best I've heard off of a completely stock 4x2 reg. cab HEMI. 15.0-15.3 seems to be the norm. My Dad has a 99 Silverado Ext Cab 5.3. I have driven it plenty, and have driven the new hemi.. They both seem kinda snotty in the lower rpm's, and then come in like gangbusters around 2600-2800rpm. Between the 2 setups, it would be a close run.
SinisterSS
My Dad has a 99 Silverado Ext Cab 5.3. I have driven it plenty, and have driven the new hemi.. After driving a Hemi 100+ miles, I would put it in the same ballpark as a 5.3. And I know my SS will spank a 5.3, so that puts the SS in a league above the Hemi. Dodge did their homework and came out with the first real small block to compete with a Chevy in what? Decades? Ever? Not bad for a first effort. But Dodge still has some catching up to do, no pun intended. ;) Next, maybe Toyota will take their NASCAR pushrod V-8 and put it in a truck.....nah, LOL. There's a reason I traded in my '02 Z71 with the 5.3, the SS kicks some serious behind! Bring on the rain, ice & snow....let's go!

SSilverado60
Whoever is the better driver will definately get the win, basically it all comes down to who gets the better launch, and what gearing he has. it will be close
