SnoProKid29
I know K&N has two different intakes, the FIPK or the 77 series. And then the volant has the intake with the extra ram air tube you can buy. Which one if better? If anyone can give me some advice it would be greatly appriciated. Thanks Alot
vtodd82
i would personally go with the ebay CAI that sales for about 30 dollars. i put one on my brothers truck, and i liked it more than my K and N. if you want to spend hgih dollars, go with the outlaw CAI. Chris2005SS
I went with the Volant with the ram air tube. I liked that the Volant was completely enclosed and shielded from dirt and heat. You should anticipate spending some extra time "massaging" the ram air tube to keep from rubbing the tire.

Does the tube rub up against the tire when you turn real hard or something??
SS Silv
I love my 77 series, looks sweet under the hood, nice throttle response, and nice throaty sound. It is expensive but I think its worth it.
DanY
I think by "massaging" he means reworking the end of the scoop so it slides further onto the brake duct in the grill. This moves the upright tube further from the tire and keeps it from rubbing at full lock. Someone here a while back posted some pictures on how to mod the scoop. If you look at the scoop it is rectangular where the brake duct is wider at the bottom than the top. I made a 1 - 1.5 inch cut on each bottom corner of the scoop. Then I used a heatgun to flare out the sides of the scoop near the bottom. It now fits much nicer onto the duct and no more tire rub at full lock. jdub396
Just ordered the K&N. I like the looks of the Volant, but I wanted the sound of the open element. I would have to guess they are all within 3 (or so) HP of each other. So its up to what your looking for.

fox_forma
You can also look at the AEM brute force if you want an open CAI...
LOUI1313
I have the Volant and love it. It really looks good under the hood and makes the truck sound bad ass! Well, as much as a CAI can do. I would go with the volant IMO. Just a reminder, if you are ever going to get the STS turbo system don't buy a CAI, it will not work with the STS.
