OneBadSSS
Ok, so I went to test drive a brand new, fully loaded (including sunroof) '05 Onyx SSS. Well, I get to the dealership and I don't see it on the lot....come to find out, it's still in transit, won't be at the dealership for 5 more days. So this truck really is BRAND SPANKING NEW!!!! So, anyways, they had me test drive a used '04 Onyx SSS that was on the lot to "make sure I really liked the truck" which I obviously aready do if I'm will to pay in excess of $38K for it!!! Anyways, so they said MSRP was $44,020 and CLAIMED invoice was like $39,120 (which I thought was BS because I found the invoice for that truck, with all the options and destination charge included as $38,355 on NADA.com). So, the manager offered me a sale price of $36,620 with rebates or $39,120 if I wanted to finance thru GMAC for 60 months @ 1% APR. I told him I need to think it over....Does anyone think this is a good deal?? I got a buddy who's a salesman at the dealership and he asked me afterwards what it would take for me to buy the truck "today," meaning ASAP. So I took out a sheet of paper and wrote down "starting price of $38,500, give me the $1500 off for GM bonus cash and military discount, and I'll put $2000 down, so that I have to finance $35000." I told him, you get me THAT deal, I WILL buy the truck from you, otherwise, I'll just keep looking elsewhere. He told me he'd talk to the manager later tonite and call me either tonite or first thing tomorrow. I'm not holding my breath that they'll bite on my offer, but we'll see....any inputs??? MUFDVR
I work at a GM dealer and that number is very close to invoice. I think the invoice on my 42700 truck is around 38,258. Buy the Truck! Mine is in transit as well. The del date is supposed to be this Sunday.
W2W402
I just picked up my fully loaded 2005 SSS for just over $36,000 after GM discount and incentives.
WEEZARR1&SS
Was that price for the 2WD or the AWD?? That will make a diff aslo.
MUFDVR
If you bought it this month good for you. In my region there is $2500 in rebate plus an aged untit rebate of $1500. The only option my truck is missing is a $1400 sunroof that I don't need. So if you doo the math and it was an aged unit and they have the same rebates they made about $2100 on you plus hold back. Dylan06SS
Theres some more wiggle room built into that price... I'd try and grind em down more... they can do better for you.
DGIEPSS
i say you should diffinatly get the truck
MUFDVR
If it was not invoiced before Jan 1 2005 there is no 1500 additional rebate. So a $600 is not bad. If you can do invoice to 600 over thats a fair deal. It appears that the manager that quoted you the number qouted invoice less the rebate's. I don't know how you can do better than that. I know I would not dip into hold back to sell an SS at my store and we have sold a few.
OneBadSSS
Well, I'm not asking them to "dip into holdback," but I think I have a pretty good handle on how much the truck is worth at invoice. I have checked and rechecked with the three biggest car info sites (KBB.com, edmunds.com, NADA.com) and they all com back the same, roughly $38500 invoice for a fully loaded SSS. So, I think my offer is right on the mark...dealership still gets their holdbacks, and I get a good deal on a sweet truck. The only option my truck is missing is a $1400 sunroof that I don't need. Now this is the kinda stuff that pisses me off about dealerships...every site I checked, including GMbuypower.com said MSRP of a sunroof is $1100, and invoice is $947, so where the hell did you get a pice of $1400??? And you know the manager at the dealership I went to had the balls to whine about how he has to pay interest on his vehicles up front??? I DON'T CARE!!! I'm buying a vehicle, not helping manage operating costs!
OneBadSSS
Was that price for the 2WD or the AWD?? That will make a diff aslo. The truck in question is AWD, I wouldn't buy one with 2WD. Oh, another thin I forgot to mention, the '04 Onyx SSS they let me test drive, had almost 26K miles on it and they wanted $30,260 for it!!!!! I'm not holding high hopes that my buddy at the dealership will coem though for me, but we shall see!
OneBadSSS
Oh, one more thing, I forgot to ask...if I do get the deal I want offered to me, can I make the down payment with a credit card? I only ask because my "Debit" card for my checking account only works when you run transactions as credit, so it's just like having a credit card....will a dealership accept that as payment? MUFDVR
This will be the last time I try to show you the light. The invoice is $39204.85! That is the invioce!! Anyway you slice it that is what the dealer pays for the truck. When you build the vehicle on those sites there is always things missing. Ask the dealer to show you invoice on the deal. If that's invoice, less rebate and he can prove it, buy the truck. As a customer I could care less about floor plan costs as well. There may be an aged unit rebate. Thats 1500 in my district. If so Work that into the deal. By the way im am looking at the invoice on that truck as I am typing.
MUFDVR
The credit card or debit card should not be a problem at all.
