BlackySS13
I would like to put my cam and valve springs in within the next month. Are there any special tools I would need or just some sound advice??? I've been to ls1howto.com for a general teaching of the procedure. Any input would be great. Thanks, Chris
TurbochargedBerserker
I think Ben and I have both done a step by step sometime in the past -- might wanna try searching. I think I did my step-by-step for Haynss it that helps.
DaGeorge
I used that site for my cam swap and it went pretty smoothly. There's just a few little diffrences. Metric ratchet wrenches would have been a plus, but i didn't use them. There are a couple of bolts that they would have been nice to have. A small but decen't valve spring compressor. I used one like SLP sells.... it worked but kind of a pain. Instead of the JPR tools to hold up the lifters i had a set of makeshift tools made from some brake line. They worked fine for me but not for others. You can do a search on LS1Tech to find out more about it. Other than that the ls1howto is pretty good. Oh yea and look up about how to take the lines off the radiator. Ben said there was just quick connects holding them in. (I unbolted them) Good Luck
BenKey
There are 4 steel lines coming to the radiator, 2 on the left, 2 on the right. You can remove the nuts that are at the end of them if you choose. But, it's not necessary. Push back the black plastic ring and you'll see a c-clip. Pull out this c-clip and the line will pull right out. They connect to the tranny the same way.
BlackySS13
Thanks for the input guys. So what would be good to use instead of the JPR tool? How do pen magnets hold up?
