Front crank seal

:banghead: Has this happened to anybody, yesterday in the afternoon I was coming home from Orange County, I live about an hour and 30 minutes away, when my AC compressor belt decided to take a dive, however it also decided to take the front crank seal along with it :nonod: . So I was on the junction of the 55N and 91E stranded with the truck leaking more oil than what I could put in it. Is this a common occurrence or could the turbo have anything to do with it?

TIA

Its a common thing on GM trucks and is not related to any aftermarket equip. It usually happens to trucks with higher mileage. There are 3 common causes - bad belt, bad tensioner or compressor starting to lock up. When i worked at the dealer i replaced many A/C belts and tensioners, A couple of weeks ago i replaced a compressor on a customers truck at my shop and have another customer with the same problem (both trucks are well over 100k miles with compressor failures.) the compressor locking up is the least common. Also you may want to check your crank pulley they have a been known to go bad.

with moderate traffic, i live in hemet, which is west of palm springs, but in the middle of nowhere and ???, there is no direct way of getting there and no freeway to hemet, just some hiways that you cant speed on because off all of the cops.
