TurbochargedBerserker
Well, I've driven it about 30 miles and I still have 3 fillings left in my head. Chuck did some special voodoo this go around (increased the pressure a bit, added some thicker plates, more dyno tuning), and PI restalled the converter -- they put a "0 pump" in it, and boosted the stall speed up 400-500 rpm or so. I haven't launched or seriously brake stalled yet (need 70 more miles or so). So far, it seems really responsive, and seems to be spooling a lot quicker. I really like how the tranny is handling the modest power I'm throwing at it. I've had it to 4 psi or so several times and the temp goes up maybe 2-3 degrees. In fact, the hottest its been was after sitting in Fl afternoon heat in traffic I'm *NOT* going to jinx anything by saying it feels like we got her this time... BTW, Chuck's new shop is Finish Line Transmissions (thus the FLT
zippy
this is good news to me. glad to see you're driving it again.
haynss
you figure 70 miles should be enough for you to run the gas out and get it to the track
TurbochargedBerserker
Still gotta swap the cam and do the rockers before the track. Plus tuning the fast switch. I'm thinking 4-6 weeks for the glory run with G-tech times starting in 1-2. Just got back from taking XGMTech for a little ride -- 1/2 throttle, 5-6psi, 2-3 passes into 3 gear. Total tranny temp +10 degrees to 155. I'm pretty happy with that.

misterp
Right On. Glad to hear you're no longer afoot. Mr. P.
TimC3
Awesome! You said you're hitting 4-6 psi on partial throttle.. What is it going to hit on WOT? If you had to guess, what are the HP/TQ numbers currently (before the rockers and cam swaps)?
TurbochargedBerserker
Right now, 8psi would be WOT, but later... muhuahahahahah Thinking about 18. If I had to guess, at 8psi, I think I'm in the lower-mid 500s awhp. When it's all said and done, I'll be in the high 600's, low 700s at 15 psi. How could I forget numbers like that?!? Anyway can't wait until you get 'er all finished up.. We want 1/4 mile numbers!
XGMTech
Gotta add my impressions to this thread... yes, it was half-throttle, and hit around 5-6 psi. Here's what I experienced from the passenger seat: it instantly pushed me back in the seat, and pulled strong... after a few seconds I looked over and the speedo was around 80, and this thing showed no signs of letting up. It felt like there was plenty of torque, from idle all the way up to whatever RPM we hit. The tranny shifted really nice, not harsh but firm enough to feel (unlike stock). I'm impressed with the FLT transmission and I'd definitely buy one. All in all, I was blown away. And you're still talking about 18psi??? Sheeesh... it's never enough with you horsepower junkies, is it?
TurbochargedBerserker
I'm pretty sure my addiction has turned into a psychosis Does anyone else's truck beg for nitrous? Besides TJ, I mean?
TimC3
Geez man! 700HP isn't enough? You want spray on top of that? What are you going for? The first ever 9 second 5K pound vehicle?!?

2bseen
Glad you got the trans back and working good for you. I have about 3k miles on mine now with 3 bottles of n2o and havent had a problem at all with it. I hope it keeps doing good, I am going to put a bigger shot next time at the track. It would be nice to have a cool weekend b/f the 100 degree heat gets here. Good Luck.
