Iudex
are there any benifits to upgrading the ignition and wires in a lightly modified engine?
TurbochargedBerserker
Wires, yes. Coils? I don't think so.
tawss04
There's usually benefit in upgrading. I had a complete MSD system on my 97 Z71 and also on my uncles 90 stang (complete - dist, wires, cap & rotor, coil ignition box). Both vehicles definitly ran better. Only thing id everyone complains about $80 a coil X8 but the system on each of my vehicles ran about $800, so $80 a coil is not really a bad deal, theres no box or dist to buy. BenKey
It's the cost vs the benefit that's not worth the cost of the coils. I mean...what kind of gains are we really talking about here? hp? can't be a whole lot. better throttle response and quicker starts I can see for sure. I would do it, if it wasn't so expensive.
