One hit my drivers side rear view on Rt-32N goin' to Eldersburg (MD) awhile back... @ 70mph. Yeeech! Made a huge green splatter.... 'n I had the window open. 04CHASE Posted July 12, 2005 Report Share Posted July 12, 2005 Actually its called a luna moth they are pretty rare.You can find them all over the u.s. they are a nocturnal species and can range form 80mm -115mm in wingspan legnth.both sexes are similar in size but males have a more strongly feathered antennae .In its early stages the Luna moth is a green caterpillar that has hair, spiny tubercles, and a yellow stripe on each side .
