oscareltemblo
First of all will a six speed be compatible with the allwheeldrive and Secondly is it more costly to put in a six speed or to buy a bullet proof 4L65E? Reason I ask is becuase, looks like I'll be switching my stock trans but, I like 6 speeds and allwheeldrive also. BenKey
No such thing as a "bulletproof" 4L65E. Some are stronger than others maybe, but bulletproof they are not.

zippy
i agree, whether it's a 65E or 85E, i wouldn't consider any of them to be bulletproof. the cost to do that kind of swap would be rediculous. only the tremec t56 would be worth the swap in my opinion. getting the output and input shafts to make that work with the transfercase would be the tricky part. getting a clutch to hold up to the weight would be another issue. it would require one that wouldn't have very good driving manners. running a manual trans with an awd system is just asking for something to break. TurbochargedBerserker
When I looked at the Tremec, I was told it couldn't be done by a couple of places (not with the AWD transfer case anyway). Tremec wasn't sure if it would handle the weight either. If you could get one built for the weight and hp, fabbing up the one off parts to mate it together would be ridiculously expensive as Zippy said. Tremec thought we'd need to move the xfer case back, and run a prop shaft from the tranny to the xfer case (a la monster truck) and get custom drive shafts.
