EmergencyVP1
So my Nelson tune comes in today for the SS. I had one on my '04 2500HD crew cab and it made a hell of a difference on that. A few times I could smoke the 285's on it I spoke with Nelson and decided to go with the 91 octane tune. He said the next thing I need to do, is get the servo and a shift kit, then we can wipe torque management out of the tune and lessen the shift firmness, since the kit will take care of that. Will let you all know how it goes. Should take about 4 or 5 days for the computer to really respond nicely.

BenKey
Why does everyone think it takes x number of days for the PCM to start responding. The only thing that I have ever waited for the truck to learn on is idle. Everything else is there the second you first start up. It's like saying that the new timing tables you now have isn't recognized for a period of time or the tables change once you get some hours on it. It's not true. It's not true. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I guess since I have already owned one before, and noticed a difference in the performance over a week is why I would say that. Usually it means getting the rest of whatever octane fuel you had out of the vehicle and going with a higher octane, that the tables change on dual tunes. Now since this is a straight 91/91 tune, your right, it may be straight out of the box....But I kinda doubt it, since there is 89 octane fuel in there now, I will more than likely have some detonation with the fuel tables being calculated for 91 octane, and would also have other factors such as if I were towing, outside air temp, temp of the engine, etc... Yes I know what you mean, I have read other forums where people claim huge power differences over a week or month. Personally I found with a dual tune that there was a difference when I had the old "cruddy octane" gas in there, until after the first or tank of premium..... BenKey
There can be differences based on the the timing tables for high octane and low octane if those tables are not the same and the program reverts to one or the other. The tune itself however, does not change over time.
