MountainGoat
hi i have a 97 tahoe, recently i had a rod berring go out and i "was" planning on rebuilding the motor, but then i got to thinking about buying a motor out of wreched one.... but what about the option of a 5.3..? has anyone done this? i personally think its a better motor, same power more fuel efficient. so if someone has done this what does it all take, or what would it take...? i really would like to put one of these motors in my tahoe, that or a 6.0 out of a escalade . any help would be greatly apprecitated
zippy
The swap can be done. Just plan on a time consuming project. I'd recomend getting a pcm Harness from a newer Tahoe like around 2000-2002 or so. Using the pcm and harness as well as a trans from a gen III engine it would just be a matter of making the motor mounts work and tuning.
