AWD Launch

My first time out at the track tonight. I ran a best of 14.39 but my 60' times were weak but consistant 2.10 to 2.14 (5 runs worth). Obviously more hp will get me into 2.00 mark but with my mods is a 2.00 asking to much? I currently stall around 2000rpm, anyone have any pointers?

Thats not bad at all, the AWD makes it easy. I still have the stock converter, I found it luanches good about 1000/1400 rpm. With the TB/TC it will luanch better I've heard.

Have you seen or heard what sort of ET gains can be made by swapping to a TB/TC?

14.3 is a very respectable time on stock tranny and converter  As I remember just off idle was a bit better, like tawss04 says somewhere between 1300-1500 RPM; launching at 2000-rpm on stock converter might be a little much, I could be wrong that's just an opinion. A good converter will pick up 2-tenths by itself; with a shift kit your run should improve another 2-tenths after that (typically).

Q: where you running your 22s on that run?

Thanks for the info. I think I'll be looking into a TQ. My best run of 14.39 was my very first run. Temp was about 77 degrees. I also had 16's on with no tailgate. The weird thing is as the temp dropped throughout the night (as low as 60) my times never improved, I even dropped the spare. My 60' was consistant between 2.10 and 2.14 all night. I tried running with the A/C on (as zippy suggested) and in 3rd gear not manually shifting. That run was my worst (14.65 ET). I tried several ways to lower my time but the best (for me) was when I stalled at 2k, manually shifted, and the A/C off.

Im looking for suggestions, if anyone has them.

Zippy suggested to run with the A/C on???? what is the logic behind that???

So the fans are on high, and as soon as the truck goes WOT the A/C turns off.

My best runs were also with the A/C off :dunno:

I think your truck runs damn good as it sits already bro. Keep in mind that you tow a boat and will be limited to how big of a TC you can get.

I had my best lauches stalling at about 2200-2300!

My best run of the night was a 14.02 @ 97 with a 2.03 60'

Thanks, I guess I need to get rid of the boat (J/J). I think i'll try stalling at a higher rpm next time. Your truck ran bad ass, Id love to see what a Nelson tune would do for you and a performance tune for me too! Oh well, it was funny our hemi buddies were'nt saying much at the end of the night. There best time was like a 15.02 et for Steve and 15.2 for Barry.

I think this was suggested before you run, the a/c runs the cooling fans all the time, rather than when called for.

Wouldn't the heat coming of the a/c radiator affect the engine radiator as hot air is pulled in?
