OUTLAW CAI intake problem..

Recommended Posts

Hey SSers...Here is a copy of the email that I sent to Outlaw...I will let you know how it worked out...Check yours!!!

To whom it may concern,

I purchased one of your CAI systems approximately 11 months ago.

I have been very happy with it until yesterday.

I was doing some routine maintenance on my Chevrolet Silverado and noticed that I had a 3/16 inch gap on the intake tube near the 'power coupler'...I might have slightly overtightened the coupler, but I don't think so...Your directions said snug...I am a skilled trades person at General Motors here in Detroit so I really don't think that I overtightened the hose clamp...In fact I am a pipe-fitter! LOL...So I have some experience with hose clamps!...I deal with them everyday...

Right now I have a small piece of cloth plugging the 'gap' at the power coupler to intake tube connector...

It is toward the front and center of the intake tube, right at the 'seam' from the injection mold process...

What can we do to correct this?

I can send pics if you desire...

A prompt response would be truly appreciated...

I think I had the same problem you're referring to. I just called them a few months back and they sent me a whole new tube and couplers for each end in five days. The couplers have been redesigned from the original one I bought a year and a half ago. Haven't had a problem since. Their number is 1-888-342-4133. Let me know if you need any pics of the new stuff.

Well I did get a response from OUTLAW...And an email confirmation that a new tube was on it's way to my house...I should have my new part on the 21st of November...My faith in OUTLAW is restored...It is great when a company stands behind their product  ...I would still highly recomend their CAI kits...AND would recommend using a phone (my bad) to let them know if you have a problem...

have a great holiday everyone...

We did not receive your original email, had we received it you would have received a prompt response. A call into our toll free # (888) 342-4133 would have also generated a response, as our techs would respond close to 18hrs a day and 7 days a week. I cannot say why we did not receive your original email, I looked through the spam filter and it was also not in there. Either way, know that we are readily available and as many can attest to, we are highly customer service oriented.

Having said that, for future reference give me a call if you don't get a response within 24 hrs.

Am I correct in understanding that the seam of the "TUBE" is split? If you can send a picture of the part OR tell me "YES" the plastic tube is split and send me a pic later. I just want to know if I need to send you a tube to fix the problem or is it something else? If a new tube will fix the problem reply immediately so I can get the part shipped today.

I apologize for the lack of response (out of our control) and promise to fix the problem rapidly, whatever it may be.

Thank you,

Thought I would let you know that I am a member of SilveradoSS.com ...

I have posted the original email that I sent to you November 9, 2006, on the silveradoss, com web site forum...The same day I sent it...

I did not think I would be waiting for a week for a reply, and I was hoping to report back to other forum members how well you took care of me...At this point I don't know what to say...
