So I raced a buddy of mine last week (hes got a trunk model 5.0 :nonod: ). I've got a stock SS other than a Superchips tune.....O yeah, and 24's!!! We race, and he beats me by about 2-2.5 cars. I tell him that I just might be able to beat him with the stock wheels on, of coarse you know how those Mustang guys think that thier shit is unbeatable so he jus laughs it off and goes on dogging me bout it all week. Saturday comes and I decide to change the wheels jus for the hell of it since I was curious too. I call and call to race him, no answer. Finally he calls me back tonight and we hook'em up. The first two races he beats me (2wd SSS do nothing but spin out the hole till you learn how to ease it out). I make a few more practice launches and we race again.......I beat him 2 times. He gets all fired up saying that theres no way he's lettin a truck beat him,.....so he says he'll run one more time for a hundred bucks! Basically the race is sooo close that its really whoever can get out the hole the quickest. We line up, my boy flags, and as soon as we took off, I knew I had him! So now he's all pissed off and won't talk to me since I took his money!!! :D

****Moral of the story, Keep the ponies in the corral if there's an SS nearby!!!****

NO DOUBT!!!!

I guess those 5.0s gotta run like a high 14-15flat right?  So I'm guessin with that Superchips tune I should run maybe about a mid-high 14?

SS stock will run any where from 14.7 to mid 15's so maybe you got one of the good ones(14's stock). The tune might knock off .1 not for sure. Handhelds don't really do much for you. Get a custom tune and a TBTC with a shift kit and you will really be rocking. Once you start modding you will not want to stop. I never thought I would do so much to me truck. It hurts to think of all the money spent

Damn, so those dyno tunes really make that big of a difference? If thats the case then i'm gonna have to get rid of the Superchis tune!!! And how does the TBTC make such a big difference? ............

So do any of yall have a suggestion on which cam I should put in? If so, could ya give me the name and specs. I do body work for a dealership and they have a guy in the mechanic shop thats got a cam swap in a new Chevy down to like an hour and a half!! Thanks.

O yeah, and there's nothin better than SHUTTIN DOWN A PONY!!!

Ok......., so I know that this is kinda gettin off the topic, but since you guys will prolly know,.......horsepower-dollar spent, which would be the best bet  :

tune, cam, intake, tc, and full exhaust including headers....or....a supercharger?

I figured that that combo w/ install would still be near half the price of a charger.

O, and what type of motor do we have in our trucks, is it an LS motor, Thanks.

We have an LQ9, derived from the LS1.

From the feedback I've observed the "tune, cam, intake, tc, and full exhaust including headers" would put your truck solidly in the high 13's and cost anywhere between 2500 and 3500 depending on parts selected; adding a supercharger *only* (use stock exhaust, cam, and CAI) could deliver mid to low 13s by itself but cost over 5-grand; doing everything mentioned can put you anywhere from mid-twelves and faster depending on the cam and blower you choose. Another thought - since you live so close I would buddy up to Futral Motorsports, they do world-class work there and the prices they advertise are competitive.

Futral Motorsports? Would you just send them the truck and go from there? I'll have to definately look into that..........besides, I got plenty of other things to keep me busy while I waited, I'm putting my house back together from that damn hurricane last year!

Thanks Mr.P and all you guys, appreciate the input!
