I've been workin a shutdown at work now since Jan. 8th, (13+ hours a night...everynight) and I won't be done till Feb. 20th. :shakehead:

My woman and I are gettin edgy cause not bein able to see each other for days at a time, tryin to raise our 7 month girl, take care of our 6 year old boy and juggle the house (that we moved into on Jan 8th), and work...

we need to go somewhere late feb. so help me out... any ideas...

I was thinkin somewhere in SoCal but a little closer would be better, just a 2-3 day stay somewhere would suffice. with nothing then I was thinkin the hotel on the beach/boardwalk in santa cruz...but everything is closed up there for winter :banghead:

er...I was gonna say that I heard Vegas is pretty cheap tickets and a 4 star for a few days should only be a few hundred dollar but I forgot about your kids. But still you never know I think VEGAS.COM has the deals.

ummm....aside from that I really dont know too much of cali. or anything in the west coast for that matter :dunno:

lol Vegas wouldent be too bad for the kids. Lots of stuff for them to do. I only know becuase i cant gamble yet :shakehead: Anyways most of the bigger hotels have some cool arcades / IMAX and stuff. There is also a big M&M factory thing on the strip with a ton of crap for kids to do. The last time i was there I was 16 and I had a pretty good time. But mostly I was standing in the casinos next to my parents while they hit the slots. If you do decide to go though, do not go out after dark...Thats when all the creepy/drunks come out lol.

i really like monterey this time of year brian. if you can stomach the seas whale watching is pretty cool and i really like the crown plaza in downtown by the aquarium for a place to stay. if you havent been to the monterey bay aquarium in the last couple years its worth making a trip. its changed tons. i like walking around the wharf and that street by the water with all the shops. names eluding me right now. laguna seca close by, tons of good food - bath house in carmel has best/romantic views anywhere. best part is the weather on the coast is nice this time of year.

cambria is really nice too. not as much to do there but the hearst castle is pretty cool and there's some awesome placed to stay right on the beach.

you could come down to huntington /newport beach area and then take the catalina flyer to catalina island for the night. ive been there a few times. its pretty cool some nice hotels and some bars. i think they have some whale watching and possibly a tour around the island there is also some small golf course , glass bottom boat, lots of stuff to do.

but vegas is always cool . they are imploding the stardust in march , that would be a site to see for sure.

If your into boarding I would go to the sierra nevades and hit the mountains for a couple of day...Get a lodge somewhere and at night you always have either reno or lake tahoe for some night life and enterainment...Thats just me...

Check out Lake Havasu (been there and had a good time)...should be in the 70's down there right now. You could swing up and hit hoover dam also. Your 6 yr old would love that. I'm not 100% positive if the Lake would be bumpin yet in late feb...still might be too cold out. Just something different for an idea...might even be too far for you.

Depends on what your idea of how to unwind is. Wifey likes the Apple Farm in San Luis Obispo a lot

Nearby Montana de Oro State Park has some great hiking.

Big Sur is a great place to relax too, but accommodations are a bit sparse.

  • 4 weeks later...

we just spent Wed. night at the www.kenwoodinn.com

The Kenwood Inn and Spa in Napa County was awesome...

hour and a half TiAmo massage was incredible, the wine, the champagne, the ... everything... totally worth it... a little on the pricey side but hey we needed it

came out from dinner and there was a Aston Martin (the james bondish one) sittin in front... it was pretty cool...

oh yeah we forgot the camera so I used the website pictures and circled our room in red...

I saw a DB9 in downtown Dallas on 75 two weeks ago - I want one; there's not a bad line anywhere on that car.

Glad to hear you got away. Now get your azz back to work! :jester:
