My Brand New Toy!

Well I turned 21 a month ago a did some research, went down to Caswells Shooting Range and shot about ten guns including Sig, HK, S&W and many different types of Glocks, and I immediately fell in love with the Glock 23 .40 it fit really well in my hand, I loved the balance, just the right amount of power and most importantly I was most confident shooting it. Sorry about ranting but I've been saving for a couple months and I'm really excited, check it out...

Well happy 21'st. I bought a pistol and a rifle when I turned 21. I still have them both. That was quite a few years ago :)

Those glocks have a huge following. Many Police departments across the country use them. That says something right there.

I am a Sig Sauer fan myself, but I respect those glocks. They are fine pistols.

Congrats on the purchase.

Mike

You should be very happy with the new Glock. I've had a Glock 22 .40 for a couple of years, with some practice and a good set of sights, they can be resonably accurate. The .40 is a nice caliber IMO, it has plenty of knock down power and is nice to shoot too. I know from experience it has enough umph to down a 6' 350lb bear at less than 2 yards. :uhoh:

the following pic is the skull of the bear i shot, the circled area is where the bullet entered the skull, the exit wasn't pretty:

Sig 220 right out of the box, accurate as hell. Not really a Glock fan, but good luch with it.

Ya I shot the Sig 220 and really liked it, but imo was a little too big to conceal, so I shot the Sig 239 and borderline hated it, too heavy and an awkward size for me...my next step is CCW which I heard isn't too hard to get, I doubt I'll ever conceal but at least I will have the option and knowledge to do so.

I've always heard good things about Glock, then I saw this from an earlier post on here, did you research any validity on this "rash' of "malfunctions" or was it detrmined to be user error in reported incidents?

The sights on the glocks suck, mine has stationary sights in the rear, and the "adjustable" ones aren't very "adjustable"

Ya I did do some research and found that the guns that go 'kaboom' or 'kb' which is when they literally explode were from user error when reloading the bullets. The term 'glock leg' or when you shoot yourself in the leg occurs also from user error when removing the gun from the holster carelessly, your finger should never be on the trigger unless you are ready to discharge. I was skeptical at first as well, but with safe gun practices you will not have a problem, the only real safety on a gun is between your ears- a wise man. But that video definately will make you think...
