Some important Questions

First off, what's the best way to mock up the roll pan and tap the holes for mounting accurately (I've had my BSER roll pan sitting in my garage for some time now). I'm afraid to tap the holes and the roll pan sitting off center. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

2nd: was at the dealership for a nitro top off on my tires and the service rep i was talking to has an SSS as well. He showed me his and said he lowered the rear 2 inches by just ordering some shackles that cost around 40 USD from stylin concepts and then just had a mechanic at the dealership put them on. Is that a proper way of lowering it? He also said you can lower the front an inch with the stock shackles or whatever they are ( i don't really know). If i did this would it be bad? What effects would have on my ride? Is that the proper way to lower my truck? or will it be just a bad job that won't last long. PLEASE HELP! i know nothing about lowering these trucks

Thanks in Advance

Yeah, he was right about the rear lowering he did, not sure about the front, I did 2in drop shackles in the back and in the front i did 2in drop spindals

Shackles are a correct way of lowering but there are other options for diffrent heights, Leafs, hangers, etc.

If you want to do it with shackles

Those are the shackles

He probably lowered the front by turning down the torsion bars. That is the cheap and easy way of doing it, but the result will be a harsher ride quality. Hell, I lowered the front of mine with 2" drop spindles and I still had to turn the torsions to get the correct stance I wanted. Mine doesn't ride terrible, but it's definately not like it used to be so I can imagine how just doing the torsions would have a really bad effect on the ride. IMHO, if your going to lower your truck, do it the right way with spindles. I've read many stories on here where people did it that way and ended up doing it all over with spindles because they hated the way their truck drove after.

As for the rear and shackles, that will only net you a "so called" two inches. I've seen that and it doesn't even looked like it was dropped at all. It's gonna take either drop leaves and/or shackles to take up most of that gap between the wheels. Us older posters have done the McGaughy's deluxe 2/4 drop with spindles, shackles and hangers because that was all that was available at that time. Now there are other options.

Shackels for the rear and turn the bars down in the front ,you must cut the stops or you will have a rough ride .Its a quick and EASY process that gets great results ,a Big bang for the Buck Mod ..............as for the roll pan take the gate off n get some long screws space it back the distance of the studs and attach it to the bed and let it hang paralell to where it would be if it was bolted down flat aginst the bed ,mark the place to drill the holes where the studs touch....what are u wait 4
