fdkss03
What is normal for the trans temp? I have noticed that my temp used 2 run right at the bottom (coldest) line all the time, and barely moved when i really got on it for a good period of time... now it goes all the way up to the first mark.... I did have my trans cooler replaced due to a minor accident on the front end.... Is this normal, or is somthing wrong that it is going up that far under normal driving. Are you saying that it goes to the first mark during normal driving, or during extended WOT driving? Do you still have the factory torque converter? Is your ATF old or low? My opinion - if you do have the factory torque converter and fresh ATF and the normal operating temp is above the 150 mark I would have the tranny looked at by a professional. Mr. P. SilvaDolla SS
Its funny you say that because lately my trans temp has varied between 120-150 degrees during regular driving. The strange part is that the more i baby it the higher the temp usual gets! If i tend to just casually drive( not very aggressive) it wont rise as high. Any suggestions on what could be causing this to take place?

RacerJJ
120-150 is perfectly normal for a stock set-up. Just drive it normally, don't baby it. If you baby it, you are confusing it and actually making it work harder by down shifting all of the time which is why your temps may rise. Just my .02... CoolBlueSS
Make sure your fluid is full and clean. Even 1 quart can make a significant difference in temps.

Dexron-III is very sensitive, it will not tolerate overheating or aging very well. I replace mine no later than every 20K-miles or 12-months, whichever comes first. Mr. P.
