Why not just put the rotors from your stock rearend on the 14 bolt? They will bolt right on you will need to pull the axels to remove the backing plates and the same goes to install them on the 14 bolt but they will bolt right up. The calipers will be clocked a bit different on the 14 bolt but they will work.

Yup It will work. I did this swap and used the factory backing plates from an earlier rearend with disk brakes and the caliper ends up at about a 45* angle at the top front of the axle. I will look for some pics to show you where it puts the caliper, but I talked to baer about this and they just added factory backing plates to the alumasport kit for trucks with drums. This was a very easy swap.

This is the kit for one side I recieved from baer the bag just had instructions and the hardwear which you will already have for the brake lines and such.

is this for real? so i can go to a junkyard and get a set of 10 bolt backing plates/rotors/calipers from a 99 on pull my axles and backing plates install the others and put them on my 14 bolt rearend? i cant believe if its this simple more haven't done it. crap that will definately be my next mod. :ughdance:

you guys all should know by now i dont lie about these mods. i do them for myself and report so others can learn from me so yes

my truck is a 02 RCSB i got a 06 SSS rear that had drums

i took my calibers, backing plates, and ebrake cables off the 10bolt and swapped them in place of the 14bolt drums....the lines will need tweaked some to clear somethings but yes it will all bolt right up. the only thing that isnt mounted in factory location is the t fitting for the lines. which isnt a bad thing anyways. the calibers will face like 2pm and 10 pm but thats nothing major. the ebrake cables will line up an everythng just be on different angles. but yes it wil lall bolt up you will need the 18mm bolts for the calibers and the 8 13mm bolts for the backing plates are the same and will need 2 13s for the disk backing plates to mount the one line. but this should all be with the 10bolt you take parts from'

PM mater for the disk swap

definately wasnt doubting you but i thought it was much more involved than that. ill probably just borrow a rearend from the junkayrd my auto guy uses and check all the parts. would it be worthwhile or make it easier if i go with flexible lines instead of trying to reuse the 10 bolt lines?

just reuse the 1o bolt stuff. tomorrow ill get pics of how the lines are on the rear of my truck. its nto much tweaking at all. just tweak here and there around the Ubolts and up over the center of housing

and yes its straight forward and can be done in a few hours...i thought i would have nightmares then Jonibuss told me about his baer setup and i figured i try with my stockers

I'm glad to see you found this as straight forward as I did. When I spoke with baer about the drums this was when the 05's first came out and they didn't believe me that GM went back to drums so they got right on it and they called me back and said all I needed was the backing plates to make their current kit work and they added the braided flex lines and mounting hardwear for where the male and female fittings met to hold the hard line in place to keep it from flexing and breaking or cracking, but without this mounting harwear anyone with half a brain can figure something out to keep the hard line from moving or like mentioned reuse the 10 bolt parts if you have the availability to do so. I was supprised that the shock tabs even had the threaded holes in them for the tabs on the e-brake lines for earlier years. This lead m to believe GM used the same shock tabs/brackets as earlier years or they possibly had plans to put disk brakes on the 14 bolt but possibly decided not to, either way everything is there and in place to make this mod look as if it came that way from the factory.
