I'm gonna be going on a long road trip with the SSS in july, and i was wonderin if running 87-89 octane would hurt anything now that i'm running a zippy tune. Hopefully by July, 93 wont be up to 3.50 or something insane like that. Before i bought my truck from my dad, he ran 87 octane for 30k miles or so, so i didnt know if running a tune would make matters worse if i ran that for a bit. 12'SROCK Posted April 12, 2007 Report Share Posted April 12, 2007 you really dont save any money from going to a lower fuel octane but if you want to save the extra $5 bucks then go ahead. but no you wont hurt anything, the pcm has a high octane and low octane fuel tables.
