FwyFlyr Posted April 26, 2007 Report Posted April 26, 2007 Ive discovered white overspray on my black SSS. I've tried clay bar, glaze with an orbital buffer and yes even some weak compound. It just will not budge. Can I use some thinner or other reducer to remove it? Any ideas? Quote
04SSAWD Posted April 26, 2007 Report Posted April 26, 2007 (edited) First thing I would do when the body shop brought back a car that had overspray was to wet sand the area, but VERY carefully because there is uneven parts on the paint. If that doesn't work I mixed a cap full of thinner with 12 ounces of water and sprayed the surface and wet sanded with that. But I wouldn't use that second step unless you are REALLY REALLY good with massaging paint. Hope that helps. Edited April 26, 2007 by 04SSAWD (see edit history) Quote
EmergencyVP1 Posted April 26, 2007 Report Posted April 26, 2007 Our detail shop would use spray carb cleaner on a towel and blot at the area to soften the overspray up. You possibly will need to buff the area out when finished.... Quote
Porno Joe Posted April 27, 2007 Report Posted April 27, 2007 When I got overspray on my black truck, I used a wax and grease remover that would be used to prep a surface before painting. It might not work if the overspray is old though... Quote
nastyss Posted April 27, 2007 Report Posted April 27, 2007 acetone or paint thinner but i would def buff it first it should come right off i use 3m glaze then the polish Quote
Fireman31 Posted April 27, 2007 Report Posted April 27, 2007 (edited) When I had my bumper fixed a few weeks ago, I found a little overspray on the bottom of the bumper. All it took was a little polishing compound (paste) and it came right off. Edited April 27, 2007 by Fireman31 (see edit history) Quote

(its red) Its made for heavier compunds, just like using all of the big guns be careful Quote
SS Silv Posted April 29, 2007 Report Posted April 29, 2007 While I was washing the work trucks tonight, I did notice some overspray on the hood and fender of one of the trucks. I took the heated pressure washer and got real close to it and the overspray blew off. Maybe try this but be careful not to get too close. I also wouldn't do this on any plastic parts of the truck such as the bumper. Quote
