Simon Posted April 26, 2007 Report Posted April 26, 2007 (edited) So i went to the track last friday and it was real nice. Street racing fridays at Napierville Dragway! I ran against a Ram Diesel turbo with gear (3.73) and a tune and it was real close, but he won by a .463. I also ran against a HD1500 with a Radix. He wasn't that fast, but he beat me...by .423. Anyways I have to change that exhaust because it has some POS press bends and it's slower than my stock muffler! I finally made my mind with a Magnaflow 15840 and I am also waiting for a Yank TT 3000. The only win i had was against an older mustang... You think I sould be better? Here is my time slip : Edited April 26, 2007 by Simon (see edit history) Quote
misterp Posted April 26, 2007 Report Posted April 26, 2007 Your MPH is pretty good for AWD, mine is only 91-mph. Once you get that converter, look out! Mr. P. Quote
JF-03-SS Posted April 27, 2007 Report Posted April 27, 2007 I think that you should be running alot faster. I ran [email protected] a few weeks ago w/ alot less mods. See sig. Quote
brobradh77 Posted April 27, 2007 Report Posted April 27, 2007 (edited) I am removing my reply as a result of my ignorance in drag racing and reaction time Edited April 27, 2007 by brobradh77 (see edit history) Quote
RacerJJ Posted April 27, 2007 Report Posted April 27, 2007 I dont think thats bad would be better if reaction time was quicker. With all wheel drive I would think you could really hit it off the line even with a factory stall. But all in all I think those times are pretty good but I do believe with cam and all low 14's is where that truck should be right now. BUT like I said get that reaction time to something like .186 ish and you are in the low 14's. Reaction time has ABSOLUTELY nothing to do with ET!!!!!!!!! The timers don't start until you move, trust me! You could sit there at the line all day and your time at the end of the track would be exactly the same as if you had a perfect .000 light. As far as the times go, something is wrong...I may have some more mods technically but you have a cam and I have run a best of 13.98. Maybe something in your tune? Quote

Your tune has to be off. Do you have a scan gauge? Are you getting KR. If you are, the pcm will pull a set amount of timing which could be causing you to lose more power then you think. How aggressive is Nelson w/ timing and A/F ratios? Your A/F should be somewhere around 12.8-12.9. I think your truck will easily hit high 13's w/ those mods. Quote

zippy Posted April 27, 2007 Report Posted April 27, 2007 Even with that current converter you have enough mods to hit at least a 14.0-14.3. Quote

Simon Posted April 27, 2007 Author Report Posted April 27, 2007 (edited) You know what kills me, it's the exhaust. When my exhaust was fabbed, I was going slower than stock. so you can imagine what this does with a cam like that and a stall too small. Nelson recommended I run a 3000 stall. I know i should be running a lot faster. Just to give you an example, the last time I went to the track completely stock, except for the restrictive flowmaster exhaust, i ran about 16.5 real bad... I don't think my tune is off though. I think it's a flow problem. Imagine a more restrictive exhaust than stock... Nelson dynoed a LQ9 on the bench and it was putting +100hp at the flywheel over stock with that cam and tune. I'll see as soon as i change exhaust. JF-03 : I was kinda shocked when I saw your sig with those mods and that time... Edited April 27, 2007 by Simon (see edit history) Quote
rivierakid55 Posted April 27, 2007 Report Posted April 27, 2007 i guess im blind cause ive looked twice and cant really make out the times. can you actually write them in? Quote
Simon Posted April 27, 2007 Author Report Posted April 27, 2007 (edited) You have to zoom in with your browser, make the page full size then double click on the time slip and then you will see the zooming option at the bottom right of the page. Anyways, [email protected] 2.11 60' .663 reaction Edited April 27, 2007 by Simon (see edit history) Quote

JF-03 : I was kinda shocked when I saw your sig with those mods and that time... Nelson is right...a cam and and the right stall go hand-in-hand. Your stall is a bit low for that cam and you would really see some gains with a 3000-3200. About the exhaust, could you have a clog somewhere in it? Maybe in the cats? Get er all fixed up and report back with some new time! In the meantime, 14's from an AWD 5000 pound truck is nothing to be ashamed of! Quote
oscareltemblo Posted April 28, 2007 Report Posted April 28, 2007 Can you get a video of the sound of the cam Ive been wanting something similar for my 68' c-10. Quote
Simon Posted April 28, 2007 Author Report Posted April 28, 2007 A clog somewhere is also possible I remember feeling something weird in the sound after a couple of hard accelerations. My exhaust is supposed to arrive pretty soon I've been waiting 2 weeks now... Yeah i've been wanting to record my setup and post it here. I guess i'll do it since I now have an official demand. It will be nice on your 68' it's a nice choppy idle. It turns head. Somettimes it sound a bit weird with the two pipes side by side but with a pipe on each side it will be different. It's real choppy. Quote
