I just finished installing Autometer electric Boost/Vac and Fuel Pressure gauges and I took the SS out for a test drive to see what kind of readings I'm getting. I don't have any prior experience with an F/I setup so I want to be sure that my readings are "normal." Here's what I'm seeing:

At Idle:

16 Vac on the boost gauge, 61 PSI on the fuel pressure gauge

At 65mph cruising:

10 Vac, 60 PSI fuel pressure

At part throttle (accelerating from 65mph to 75mph)

0 Boost/Vac, 60 PSI fuel pressure

At WOT (60mph to 80mph blast)

6 lbs. of Boost, 55-56 PSI fuel pressure

Decceleration (65mph down to 35mph @ the off ramp)

19 Vac, 60 PSI fuel pressure

Do those readings sound ok?

I'd think you would only see 5 lbs of boost with the stock pulley :dunno:

See that's what I thought too, but I swear when I really get on the GO pedal the needle gets up to 6lbs. I don't know, maybe my sight is starting to go! :dunno:

I would just watch the cats. One guy on here told me he saw more boost on his gauge when his cats got clogged.

Yeah but I just got the radix and headers installed last week, and the dynatechs are brand new!

Just something to watch I guess. If it climbs up 1 more lb I would check on them. If your running rich leftover hot fuel could eat them up from what I've heard.

yea sounds ok, id make sure that the fuel pressure doesnt go any lower than 55lbs at WOT. (it shouldnt unless you add more boost/fuel). and 6lbs is just fine.... magnasun usually asks for your modifications, and modifies your tune and pulley size accordingly. for example, my blower came with a 3.2 pulley and i did not request this (6lbs).

also, if your cats were clogged, you would indeed create more boost. however, the truck would feel sluggish and you would make several pounds more boost. another thing is the dynatech kit cats dont usually clog. mine for example decided to self implode- they slowly (over a month or so) blew themselves out the tailpipe, and now are non functional LOL. and your correct, a fairly rich a/f mixture will destroy a cat over a short time.

truck looks fine now go out and enjoy her :)
