I've just been workin, goin to the desert and the gym, hangin out with the girlfriend...drivin around in my V7 haha. Truck is runnin bad, its all shaky and clunky... I burnt a couple taylor wires on that damn driver side header. I burnt a couple taylor wires on that damn driver side header. I remember seein a post a while back where someone made a bracket out of some metal wire or somthin but I can't find it, I'd appreciate the help! I used zip ties to hold mine away from the funky header, then rivierakid55 sent me 2 of his msd 8.5 superconductors with a 90 degree bend on the block side and they work great. I'd get 2 of those and skip the bracket deal IMO. Quote
rivierakid55 Posted May 2, 2007 Report Posted May 2, 2007 glad those worked for you. i routed my two wires on that side around the headers when i cut them then used a wire loom to keep it in place. been about six months and no problems. Quote
CaliChevyV8 Posted May 2, 2007 Author Report Posted May 2, 2007 Yeah I was thinkin about just gettin some longer wires and goin out an around the header. The one closest to the cab looks like it'll be tough to get through without touching though. Seems like zip tie would melt in there with all that heat? Quote
rivierakid55 Posted May 2, 2007 Report Posted May 2, 2007 here's some quick pics. really crappy but anyways. i decided when i did mine that it didnt look the best this way but at least i wouldnt be burning wires so this was what i came up with. and really im not that concerned with what my engine compartment looks like anyways. I zip tied two wires together and zip tied them at the top under the engine cover. Carry a spare wire or two with you whatever method you choose in case something does happen. Quote
CaliChevyV8 Posted May 2, 2007 Author Report Posted May 2, 2007 Looks good, thank you for the pics! Thanks for the help guys. I'm just gonna get some longer wires from taylor and try routin it like that. Quote
CNE Posted May 6, 2007 Report Posted May 6, 2007 I have OBX headers which are the same as the older DT's. I zip tied the two rear wires to their individual coil bracket. It holds them closer to the head for clearance. It's been about 5,000 miles with no problems. Quote
kelleyperformance Posted May 6, 2007 Report Posted May 6, 2007 wow ive never seen that dynatech in a truck..... that looks ruff! use some heat booties, get some as long as the stock wire. they can be pressed up against the header for years and wont get NEAR hot enough inside to even start to melt the plastic. I am also now using the heat booties after seeing that 2 of my $250 nology wires were getting burnt....they sell the good ones right by my house if you want some,I think your only 15 mins away..
