Alright guys, I've got an 07 Classic V-Max crew cab, and I'm taking her to the track for the first time friday night. I've done a LITTLE drag racing on a track before, but it was on a quad playing around a couple years ago, but we did use the tree, etc.

Here's my mods:

Volant CAI

True 3" dual magnaflows coming out in front off the pass. rear tire

Predator Tuner

I guess what I'm looking for is some tips and tricks to help me do better my first time out, I'm not expecting too much but I'd like to establish a good baseline for future trips. Should I try and get my tank of 87 dry and put ~1/4 tank of 91 in and switch to the performance tune?? I'm trying to scrounge up a nitrous kit to use for the night, but the only time I ran nitrous all I had was the CAI, and we ran a 100shot and it did AWESOME. So I'm kinda leary about running the spray with the tuner, thinking if I do I should pull some timing??? Once I get a full time nitrous kit and some other goodies on the truck, I want to get it on the dyno and get a nitrous tune made. My only problem is that Firebird requires you wear a SFI fire jacket if you have any aftermarket power adder, so i gotta come up with something to cover me there.

thanks in advance for the input!!

i personally would say no to the nitrous. i know a lot of members on here have the SS as their weekend truck and rarely drive it. i drive mine everyday and i cant imagine ruining the engine with nitrous. especially that you have an 07 with a brand new warranty i wouldnt dream of adding nitrous, thats just me though. i think the factory vmax runs like 15.8 if i remember correctly. if it were me, i would run with what you got right now. either way make sure you take some pics and post your times

I'll definately get some pics, and I'm trying to get a video camera to take with me. Should I do anything as far as dropping weight? I was thinking I could just run it how I drive it every day, give me an idea there, then next time to the track go on a diet.

What else can I do to the truck without having to worry about the warranty? I know I'm kind of limited, but just curious.

drop your hitch receiver if you have one, the spare tire, tailgate, be sure you're the only occupant in your truck (no dogs, cats, girlfriend), and run it down to a quarter of a tank and you'll be good

:withstupid: as far as warranty goes, no matter what anyone says, they cant stop your warranty if you add something unless it causes something to fail, and they can prove with out a shadow of a doubt that it was that extra thing's fault. that being said if you're runnin a stock truck with nitrous, they couldnt drop the warranty for that, but something WOULD go wrong, a lot of guys on the site use nitrous, but they have engines, trans, etc that can handle it.

as far as simple mods to make your truck faster, it all depends on how much you want to spend. you can get a custom tune from zippy plus beef up your transmission, 160 stat, and some forged lightweight rims, those are probably the easiest to get you goin a lil faster, besides intake and exhaust.

hope that helps :driving:
