ridndirty Posted May 9, 2007 Report Posted May 9, 2007 i know its been done before but have any of you guys done it with great results? if so what did you have in there? Quote
fast4popper Posted May 9, 2007 Report Posted May 9, 2007 I've done it for a customer with a 99 SIlverado. we did 4 12 inch MTX subs with 500 watts each. cut a huge ass hole in the bed to the cab and I will tell you it blows a 150 on the meter all day long. loud as hell man!!! its not something I would do to my truck, but it gets the job done!! eddieo818 Posted May 9, 2007 Report Posted May 9, 2007 I had it done to my truck about two years ago. if your big on sound it your only option to get great sound out of a truck. i have 3 12" rockford fosgates and 1/1000 jl audio amp and stock bose system and let me tell you it was worth every penny my buddy at Valley custom audio fanatics in North Hollywood if you wanna check out his work you could see it @ valleycustom.net Quote
ridndirty Posted May 9, 2007 Author Report Posted May 9, 2007 i was looking at getting 2 Boston Acoustic spg-555's. those are the crazy oval subs youve probably never heard of. theyre supposed to be better than JL w7's and i believe it. i had put one in my truck to test it and wow. right now i have 3 10" rockford p3's in my reg cab (2 behind each seat and 1 set up as a center consol/arm rest) it didnt sound that good, probably because i didnt have enough power to them. im using a rockford t10001 amp. so i figured i would free up alot of space in my cab AND get alot better sound out of it by going with those 2 spg-555's. to power them id probably get another t10001 amp and run 1 per sub. what do you guys think? I'm going that same route thru the bed,I thinking about 2 15" xxx Re audio, rockford amps. But I got a few months to find a good installer. Quote
Chevrolet SS Posted May 9, 2007 Report Posted May 9, 2007 blow thew is cool but IMO if your going to go big go big do atleast 3 or 4 subs I dont think 2 of the BA Ovals is going to be worth it. 2-15's might be kinnda cool though. Quote
fast4popper Posted May 10, 2007 Report Posted May 10, 2007 the hole is only about 10-12 inches high that you can cut anyway, so 15's might not work either. choice is yours, its your cash and your truck. I always thought like 6 or 8 10's would kick some ass!! Quote

I always thought like 6 or 8 10's would kick some ass!! 6-8 10's would be pretty bad... ive always liked the sound of alot of 10's you could also do a single 15 in a dual chambered banpass and not cut as much just enough for the port Quote
zanis520 Posted May 10, 2007 Report Posted May 10, 2007 its definitely an awsome mod, looks and sounds great, but i would never do that to my truck. its my daily driver, i cant even imagine wanting to cut a hole in the cab and/or the bed just for a system Quote
gs430 Posted May 10, 2007 Report Posted May 10, 2007 so I would have to do something like this for 2 15"s?But would it be more like a band pass encolosure like that. Quote
Meegs Posted May 10, 2007 Report Posted May 10, 2007 You guys are crazy, on a different level! I have (2) SoundStream 1400.1/D amps going to (2) Kicker S12L7's the square ones stuffed into a SubThump box that is under the bench seat without modification. My rear quarter glass will not seal correctly anymore from the bass. how much is enough? Quote
jayo96ss Posted May 10, 2007 Report Posted May 10, 2007 I wanna do the same thing but maybe 4 or 6 15's..... I think im leaning more and more into turning my SSS into a show truck anyway. I did a crazy setup in my Impala so why not just do it in the truck? Heres the Impalas trunk. Theres nothing like bass you can feel! Quote
eddieo818 Posted May 10, 2007 Report Posted May 10, 2007 Custom ported box is the best way to go when it comes down to a truck! i didnt go all fancy with mine cuz its my daily driver, let me tell you everyone is always suprised at how great sound is coming out of my truck. i got simple carpeted custom box because i go quad riding a lot & sometimes i dont have enough space on my trailer when my buddys come along and we always end up throwing the smallest one in the bed of my truck. r8rs4lf has heard how my truck sounds, trust me ridindirty you'll get your moneys worth if you go with this set up! that ofcourse if your installer knows what he is doing Quote
