I need some info. My truck has been riding different lately. It doesn't really matter how fast I'm going, but when I let off the gas I hear this almost like humming sound coming from the front end. And every once in awhile I feel a vibration with the humming. I'm think it might be the driveline. It's never been lowered or anything, it's completely stock. Can any one give me some advise?

I'm gonna guess that the humming noise you hear is the front carrier bearing in the differential, and the vibration could be linked to that or your tires could be out of balance.

If you kick the tranny into neutral (coasting at speed) is the humming still there? better? worse? If the vibration is still there in neutral then the problem is most likely the suspension/running gear, not powertrain...

mine hums when i'm on the gas, is that the same prob??? :dunno:
Does it happen at specific speeds? Better behaved at some speeds, worse at others?

mr.p.......my humming is at any speed..example

i'm driving down the highway at 65 mph., let off the gas, and slowly re-apply gas, that is when it hums.......i was told it could be the intake??? but the only time it hums is when i slowly apply the gas after any speed

thanks in advance, and always MR.P FOR PRESIDENT :flag:

I notice the humming sound at different speeds. It almost sounds like something is rubbing on the front tires. I checked the tires and everything is good. I'll try coasting in neutral and see what happens.

Thanks P

So ... in other words, it only hums while you're taking up the driveline slack, and there's no load on the driveline (deceleration or acceleration)

I would def. say it's the carriers ... mine did the same thing ... got the front end rebuilt, and it's been quiet ever since.

does anybody know how to replace the carrier bearings?

Yeah ... you have to take it to someone that can rebuild a differential ... because the carrier bearings are inside the diff.
