bolt ons

Ok, I just got my SSS about 3 or 4 weeks ago. I finally took it to the track about a week agao and boy was i suprised. I was expecting low 15's but i was wrong. I pretty much ran 15.8's all night. I even got beat by a cummins. :shakehead: (ok so maybe it was a little hot, it was barreling black smoke) Ive got about 800- 1000 dollars for bolt on's. Is there any combination that will help me get into the 14's? I was thinking dual exhaust {ive got stock manifolds and cats dualing into one flow and singling out the rear},cold air intake and superchips flashpaq. I was hoping that would shave a second or so.

Any and all opinions are appreciated...

By the way, i did beat a mustang who had been running low 15s all night (only because he lost a transmission so i cant really call it a win because thats not how i wanted to beat him).

That is about what I ran stock. I think some type of cat back (some many choices), a CAI, 160* t-stat, and some good tuning (NOT A HANDHELD) will get you into mid to low 14's. That will be around your $1000.00, money well spent.

since this has never been gone over before the search button will do you no good.

and btw welcome to the site , you could do every bolt on in the book and still not shave a full second. but i will give you some advice ditch the handheld tuner .

Sorry Chase I disagree. I picked up 1.5 sec. w/ just the mods in my sig.

thats nice right there man. i hope i'm in the same boat after i get all my mods in then a retune.

i did alot of research into which would be the best bolt-ons that would bring me the most power. and the answers i got on here were to get a good catback, headers, CAI, shift kit, 160 Stat, and a torque converter. then after all thats installed, a good tune. so thats what i went with and i waiting to get a couple more mods in, and then i'm set. for now at least. :jester:

well alot of that has to do with conditions. i bet the two times you raced the conditions were not to close to the same. altitude has a big effect on a n/a car. i mean say a stock SS awd runs a 14.9 on a good day. there is no way its going to run a 13.5-13.9 without a cam . a 13.9 possibly with every possible bolt on and a converter but thats the only way i can see it happening.

I am at about sea level where I am. I would not have picked up 1.5 sec if my SSS was running 14.9 stock but it was not. I thought that I had the slowest stock SSS ever built when I saw the first pass I made w/ it. I believe that w/ those few mods and some nice cool weather Smoke03 will pick up over 1 sec. My truck is proof. With some long tubes and a converter I think my truck has 13.xx's in her.

I think the best way to spend the $1,000 would be with a shift kit, TBTC(trailblazer torque converter), servos and a custom tune. That should knock some time off your 1/4 run. You could also throw on a pair of LT headers if you go with the pacesetters and do your own installs. Add the 160 stat also. It's cheap and easy to install. You can save some cash doing your own installs. I've installed almost all my mods with no previous experience. The only thing I haven't installed was the trans mods. I know most love to add a full exhaust but I believe that adding a new muffler is enough. The pipes on the SS flow good enough IMO. I wouldn't worry about a full exhaust till you a some FI. Hope you make that thing faster.

I ran 14.9 and my mods are CAI, Zippy shift kit, Yank2600 stall, and a tune. That was not being able to hook up. I f I could do that mid to low 14's easy IMO.

I ran a 13.78 with a tune, CAI, Transgo Shift Kit, 3000 Stall, Pacesetter LTs, No Cats, with Cutouts open.

I think for all of the N/A guys alot of it has to do with what kind og Tune you are running. My Tune alone dropped me .5 on my 1/4.
