Schmids5.3l
Went to the track again (its only 10 minutes away). Im upset to say the least. Last fall I ran a 14.9 @ 91 mph with the 87 tune, cat back, and full weight from an idle launch. Since then I've removed the spare, upgraded to a 93 tune, and installed an outlaw intake. I went back today and ran a 15.3 @ 90 Here's a example of why I am confused. On the street this is what happens at lanuch. I mash it, bark the tires, and go. No problems. At the track I mash it, the rpms hang out between 2500-3000 Rpms for a while, then I get going. The Michelins have plenty of tread. I've gone around the water pit, I've gone thru and melted the tires, I've brake standed, floor it off idle, every possible combo of launching. For some reason I cant break into the 14's like it was so easy doing last fall. It has limited slip and I never feel a fish tail, Ive left traction control on and it never reads "traction active'' like it always does when the tires break loose the least bit. My guess is wait4me messed up the tune when I went from 87 to 93. Im ordering a Trans go w/ vette servos here in a little bit and getting retuned and am looking into a stall, if thats not the problem I guess I need DOT slicks. Traction seems to be good and should be, so the tranny and tune are the only thing that I can think of that could be a problem.
fordsareslow
I'd say it's the tune. I also live about 10 minutes from the track so I used to go all the time. Try leaving around 1100-1200 RPM's. I found the truck always launched best and had the best ET launching at that RMP. What kind of 60' times are you pulling?
Schmids5.3l
Today it was a 2.3, usually its a mid 2.2. After the shift kit and servos are in I'll get it retuned one more time, and if I come up with nothing I'm switching tuners. I might switch tuners before that Im not sure yet. Get the tranny done and get a Zippy tune or try doing it yourself. Zippy should get you into 14 second bliss!
zippy
Man, you are just not having any good luck. It sounds to me like a problem in the tuning.
motorider228
What about the temperatures? How cool was it in the fall when you ran your 14.9? How warm is it now for your 15.3 pass? Cooler temperatures are better so that may be your issue, but I don't know for that much. Hmm.

Schmids5.3l
Im calling Zippy for a tune when I get some time to figure stuff out. Last fall I ran at night, it was probobly in the 60's, yesterday it was in the low 80's at around 7:00 pm.

That temperature difference shouldn't have changed the density altitude enough to cost 4 tenths. Give Zippy a call...the problem is in the tuning I feel. FireRescueSS
What about track temp? You need to look at the track and air tempatures. Also, humidity also might be a factor.
Black2003SS
4 tenths? its either the tune or you have false knock. the kr sensors have been known to go bad and if you are seeing 7+deg kr, that will do it too. be careful though, because a bad tune will cause real kr possibly. Schmids5.3l
Dont recall track temp, but it was an all around hot day. Well not hot, but on the better half of warm (if that makes sence). Black2003SS Im not sure if Im having false knock, Im not sure if it throws a code or light. Sorry to hear about your runs up there at Summit. I would go up there and run with you but thats 3 hrs north and I live 10 minutes from the strip here I called Zippy and we arranged things, no thanks to my cell phone service Thanks for the help guys, I'll keep you posted on the track times.
