Silver Birch Paint Problem

Recommended Posts

After having my truck for six months, I have noticed that the Silver Birch color on my doors are now a different shade than the balance of the body. I never really noticed this before (mostly because it has been winter with clouds, etc.), but in the sun, the four doors are clearly a lighter shade than the bed, fenders, and bottom door moulding. Dealer says they will repaint, but I hate to think about the potential problems this could lead to. I am having a meeting later this week with the paint rep for the body shop that the dealer uses, but would like some feedback first.

Any other Silver Birch owners out there with the same problem? Anyone had Silver Birch paint work done with good/bad results?

Any other comments would be appreciated.

i dont have that but i have an issue with a spot of overspray on the back end of my bed (bout 10 inches by 1 inch). can't notice unless you look at it in the right light but you can certainly feel it when you run your hand over it. im about 90 percent sure the clay bar will get rid of it but ive just been too busy to do anything about it. you have 1 year from purchase date to dispute any paint flaws normally so i still ahve a few months if the clay bar doesnt help.

A coworker had ran into the drivers side front bumper of my SS around 2 months ago  , and the paint was stripped right down to the rubber on the corner :nonod: . I took it to my buddies shop and he fixed it for me in a 1 day......and the paint blend/match was perfect. He said that because the truck was new it wouldn't be difficult a all to fix . You cannot even tell someone hit it, thats how great of a repair job he did. :)

My suggestion is this.....if you want it fixed right, don't go through the dealer.....they will send it to a low budget area hack that will fix it cheap. Take it to a shop that you are comfortable with and confident that they will do an A+ repair. It is your truck and you should have the final say where it goes. Talk to the dealer about it, then hand them the bill after its fixed. Good luck whatever you decide to do.
