I think that the ballast should have the temp ratting. And If you do have a 5k and a 6k I will trade you cause I have that problem with a set off mine, I'm not useing them due to the fact that they look different, but I would use them again if I had a matching set.

My understanding is that the bulbs are more likely at fault, you got a mis-matched pair possibly? The color is not supposed to be 'set' until about 150-hrs...

So the longer HID's are in, the more the color/blue will come out?

I have 5000Ks and the exact same problem. It was REALLY noticiable when they were new, but as Mr. P quite correctly notes, they seem to be evening out the more I drive with them. I haven't hit the 150 hour mark yet, but I'm getting close.

Yes, depending on the blend of metallic salts they used in the bulb. It is normal for the color to deepen about 1500-2000K over the life of the bulb, this is why the 5000K bulb was released by Phillips, so that Mercedes owners could replace one bulb and it would approximately match the color of the original rather than buying a new matched pair. In the first 150-hrs of operation the coloring will change a lot, but from what you describe if you can really notice the difference then you've got a mis-matched pair. Don't judge so much by looking straight at the beam (don't look into the beam anyways, it's a TIG welding arc, you'll fry your retinas) but rather the thin color halo on the edge of the beam.
