Fireman31
After getting 14K out if the factory brakes, today I finally got a chance to install my Power Slot front rotors that I got from TByrne Motorsports. I also installed Raybestos Professional Grade Semi-Metallic pads too. I originally wanted Hawk Performance pads, but they don't make pads for an '06. I started the break in process, and the pedal feel is 10x better already. Check out the pics below (I know the wheels are dirty, it rained heavy in NY this morning)
rivierakid55
they look good but if you needed pads and rotors at 14K somethings wrong.
kelleyperformance
those are well made rotors, nice choice riverakid, i can tell you what was weong with them lol.... they sucked from the factory, and do not have the capability of correctly and safely stopping a 400hp 5k+ lb truck

Fireman31
they look good but if you needed pads and rotors at 14K somethings wrong. Rotors were okay, but they need to be cut. Pads were shot. I figured that if I killed the brakes in 14K (granted I do a lot of stop-and-go driving), I should upgrade them somewhat so that they stop better and last longer. I want to keep my SS close to stock and I don't have the funds for Baer conversion kits, so I thought this would be a decent choice, we will see. silverss05
How much of a difference was there between these new rotors and the stock rotors? I have been looking into getting these also. Thanks. Jason

SS Silv
Can I ask how much they set you back?
Fireman31
the rotors cost $105 each from TByrne the pads were $70 for the set from a local autoparts house If you compare them to buying factory GM replacements from the dealer as quoted to me: 1 standard factory GM replacement rotor $115 1 set factory GM replacement brake pads $145 Not only did I save money, but I have increased brake performance as well. I will update everyone once I break them in as to their performance. I probably could have cut the rotors, but the next brake job they would have to be replaced anyway. The factory rotors had large waves ground into them on the piston side of the rotor. 1 cut and they would have been trash by the next brake job. Can i ask how much you payed for your setup? I'm not happy at all with the stock braking of our trucks. Especially since i bought jet boat to tow. The stopping power sucks IMO. I've got to say that the Baer Alumasports are really nice and work great... they just squeal way to much.
vmax2fast
I did the same thing.... about 10k ago they seemed a lot better at first but now just average... maybe I just got used to it... Mine start shuddering a little when coming to a stop, but I think its just the groves catching a little on the pad. Same situation though, roasted the stocks at 30K saved 50% over stock by upgrading! Just didn't have enough moolah for the bears yet... Maybe at 60K
