12'SROCK
what do you guys think about the patriot lq9 stage III heads? do they make good power? Edited May 18, 2007 by 12'SROCK (see edit history)
misterp
I've never run them; however I've talked first-hand to a few people in DFW that prefer them - I would consider their products. Mr. P.
Black2003SS
Like Zippy said though...heads add about as much gain as long tube headers. So dont expect a huge difference. The big gains will come from the cam selection.

wody
300+ cfm is only good if the cam allows it. find a bitchin' cam to match. Edited May 18, 2007 by WODY (see edit history)
Black2003SS
Long tubes can free up 20-30hp in ideal conditions. Heads, the same. Swap a set of DART heads or those stage III's onto your LQ9, dyno it, I bet you dont gain 25hp on an otherwise stock LQ9. Swap the cam and put those heads on, you'll see 100hp at the crank if you pick the right cam and get a good tuner. Like said above, the heads are just the vehicle the air travels through. It has a door in and a door out (valves). You can have the biggest doors in the world, but if you open them the same distance as the smaller doors and close them after being open the same amount of time as the smaller doors, your gains will be negligible. Now, open those doors further and for longer, open them faster (ramp rate of cam), you will notice huge amounts of airflow increase. 300+cfm capability is only good if the door can stay open long enough to allow it to flow that. budhayes3
If you're planning on doing heads, I'd recommend checking out West Coast Cylinder Head (WCCH). Richard really knows his stuff and his customer service is second to none.
